Medical Exam Question

I have a quick question about the medical exam. The letter says that we need documentation of the vaccines that the fiance has gotten. She doesn't have this and I don't know if it is going to derail the medical or not. My hope is that (worse case) she has to get the vaccines again and we have to shell out the dough. I have been digging around trying to find an answer and everywhere I read seems to say that vaccines only matter for the AOS and don't really come into play before but I would rather be on the safe side and not get ambushed by a missing document.

She does not need to have the vaccination record, if she has got it she can take it with her so that they can check what vaccination she needs. and she does not have it she will have to pay for the vaccination required for her age group.

and yes the vaccination is compulsory for when she applies for the AOS not for the K1.

She should go to the clinic (aka "poliklinika") to which she is assigned locally based on her home address and request her assigned therapist to give her a paper listing all shots that she's had so far. They should have this info archived.

Thanks for the replies. She's not going to make it home before the interview so we are going in without it. Getting her vaccines is not an issue, I just wanted to make sure that should get the medical without an issue.

Plan to redo the vacvinations or not having the records will derail the medical but contrary to what the medical folks may tell her, she CAN still go to the interview.

The fiance went to the medical today with no records and they said that was fine. She's did not get any vaccines today and the doctor told her what everyone else said, which is that she needs to get it knocked out before the AOS (she's actually had them, her records are in her home town). Unless something is in the packet saying it's a no go (obviously she didn't open it) then I think we are ok.

I hate it when a thread dies without a definitive answer, so I thought I would close the loop. If we run into another related issues, I will update (but hopefully not). :)

Glad it all went well, congrats! You're one step closer... :)

You are fine for the visa (thanks for the update) The problem comes in for the AOS. If she does not have the DS 3025 filled out by the panel physician at the medical clinic she will have to get either the vaccines or titre tests AND have a civil surgeaon sign off on an I-693 before you can file the AOS. The civil surgeons in the US are basically another form of parasite (along with attorneys) that prey on immigrants and will often require her to have another medical exam, yada, yada, all at the expense of hundreds of dllars becuse she is missing a vaccine and the piece of paper.

We made SURE everyone had the needed vaccines (free in Ukraine) the records and got the DS 3025. Ths was all we needed for the AOS. Worst case, you are in for some additional hassel and expense. Otherwise, the vaccines are not needed for the visa.

I thought I would chime in, as this was a problem for us too. My husband did not think he would be able to get a vaccination record. I called, and for him, they said all he needed was MMR and a combined Tetanus/Diphtheria- at least four shots, with the last shot recently- within the last year I think, I don't remember exactly.

His family did eventually get his vaccination record- we're waiting for the original now- and he got a tetanus booster before we went to India earlier this year- so we're good!

They said if he did not have his vaccination record he would have to get all these shots. (Or you can get some kind of reaction test that shows if you were vaccinated/had the disease- though I don't think this is realistic in Russia).

Hope this is useful for someone! I called IOM about 5 times to get all this info straight.

Get a copy of the 3025 form, she can get this later after the medical; it will come in handy for AOS.
