Did you only file the I-130? I-130 is for CR-1. If you have not yet filed I-129F for a K3, don't bother. The USICS will tie it to your I-130 by pulling it from its current place in the queue. Typically, the two petitions will be approved simultaneously and sent to the NVC at the same time. Once at the NVC, the I-129F for K3 will be administratively closed leaving only the I-130 for CR-1 active.

While there have been some recent posts of people filing both petitions and the I-129F arriving at the NVC ahead of the I-130, it's too early to tell if this is an anomaly or a trend.

Your best bet is to let your I-130 run its course alone.

Best wishes!

But there is still chance that I -129 could be approved faster than I-130, so I think it is not going to hurt to file I-129 because it is free of charge and what is the difference file K3 or CR1 if you say NVC will transfer to CR1.

So I hope we would be approved by I-129 faster.

Reread the part of my post that I put in bold below, you will cost yourself time, not save it.

The USICS will tie it to your I-130 by pulling it from its current place in the queue.

So you lose your current place in line to submit an I-129F for K3 only to have it administratively closed by the NVC costing you time. Furthermore, I will assume that you already know that entry on a K3 will require Adjustment of Status (AOS). If you let the I-130 run its course and your spouse enters on a CR-1, there will be no need for AOS since the green card is issued on arrival in the form of a I-551.

IMO, in this day and age, filing for a K3 costs you time and more money than a standalone I-130. Ultimately, it's up to you, I wish you the best.

We were just approved by NVC faster with our I-129F even though it was approved on the same date at USCIS as our I-130.

In fact, our I-130 is still sitting at NVC without even being scanned yet or a Case Number.

You bet I'm glad we filed both Petitions because they can't even give us an answer when the I-130 will be given a Case Number and at this point, it doesn't matter because as the guy from NVC told me on the phone tonight, "the egg has already been hatched" since our paperwork for the I-129F is on its way to Manila (if it isn't already there by now to begin with).

K3 Cases are expedited at NVC (from what they told me) and thats why it was received there one day (April 25th) and approved and sent out to Manila the next day (April 26th). Our I-130 was received at NVC on April 26th and still no action on it yet.

Hope this helps.

The NVC is only a mail-stop for a K type visa (K1 or K3) enroute to the Embassy or Consulate. The extent of NVC involvement with K visas is assigning the file a case number and shipping it off to the appropriate post abroad. This is what happened with your case, it was not expedited or approved through the NVC.

Wish our I-129 would be approved soon too. For us it does not matter how much money we can safe now, all we care is what we can do to be together faster.

OP: Please keep your timeline updated and tell what happens once your case arrives at the NVC. I'm sure there are others who are interested to see if a trend is emerging here in regards to the K3.

You should set up a calling pattern for NVC telephone contact, and
