I am in consulting working > 200' above the pavement as well.

Like I said- if you notice an apprentice that can't function up to the task, then its your responsibility to ensure he doesn't endanger you, your colleagues, or even himself. Make sure he takes the appropriate training and document said inability and refusal to complete the necessary job duties as in the job description. It seems that there's an issue to take up with the Union foreman as well. No need to be race-angry over and over and over if you don't have racist sentiments.

I hope that stapler doesn't bite you.

Ya right. You ever try to get one run off the job when he's not a male "Caucasian"? This is reality we are talking about, not some fantasy theory by some desk jockey. Better yet you get your ####### up on the iron and then try dealing with some nit wit apprentice who's only there because of his/her race and/or gender on what can easily be a life and death situation. Have at it. Then come back and post about it. Until then you can save your theory's for the desk jockey's who like to believe everything they read.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Focus on what you have to focus on. Otherwise, you are opening up yourself to real and imaginary sensibilities they may have a basis in fact. ;)

As for my career choices- they are as just mine as yours are yours. Lets focus on those cases you claim are specifically racist (one way or another).

Peoples lives. Human life...that's what needs to be focused on. People that are in life and death situations that are getting their life put in even more jeopardy because of that racist law. Not to mention the people who work hard to get into university's and skilled jobs yet get screwed because of that law which in essence takes the bread out of them and their family's mouths.

It's called the human factor and it's something you don't have a clue on as of yet by reading your post on this subject. Peoples lives are more than just some writing on a paper or data entered into a brain box. It's actual human beings we are talking about in real life situations. And seeing how you have zero experience in that regard when it comes to that racist law you really can't give an honest answer yet you can theorize on it all day long. It would be like if I tried to tell you about your job, how to do it and what affects it (you) the most.

The only thing you are doing now is presuming incorrectly.

As someone involved in manual labor, you should know what an SOP is, and how safety checks and performance standards supersede those human factors that for some reason, escape your control. Even though you were the one technically in charge. So much for your ability as a pro.

wth are you on? If those people got into the union on a bs law, how easy do you think it is to get rid of them ? Yes, that racist law you love so much is an endangerment to peoples lives.

Iv'e been a safety man on a few jobs on the slope...not voluntarily but because of seniority. A safety guy is not going to do jack ####### for the fact the safety guy doesn't have the pull to get rid of someone, especially when that someone was put in that position because of their race and/or gender. You can speculate all you want, but in the real world it doesn't happen the way you think it should. Keep trying though and one day you will wake up to blue sky's every day and the world will be roses and hot chicks wherever you go no matter what day of the year it is.

Reality is the key word here.

You're getting angrier and angrier. That is clouding your ability to read carefully.

Further to the safety issue- is the union issue. We're not talking about a union here. We're talking about the job itself and its safe performance. You would assume that maybe- just maybe... a safety-oriented job would find its way into an overall job evaluation. Please forgive me if you have chosen a line of work where that isn't the case- just don't whine so much about it being so if the problem lies with management.

I think we're getting to the root of your problem: you may be scapegoating working with minorities due to your own anger issues with managers that don't take you seriously enough. Deal with it.

I understand people will warp jobs to what they want it to be. That's a problem with managers, not the laws that supply certain fractions of minorities to the work force. ;)

If they couldn't score high enough on the test to begin with yet still got into the apprenticeship that right there says something about that racist law. It means they are taking people who are not qualified for the position yet they are hiring them for said position.

Are you getting any of this ? I mean this is what Affirmative Action is all about. This is the racist law that you are backing in this convo. Maybe you aren't sure what that law is about and what it does in reality yet you are having this debate with me anyways ?

And don't tell me to "deal with it" when I have dealt with that racist law time and time again. You are debating a subject that you don't have a clue on. Why is that ? Explain please why you continue to back this racist law when it's obvious you only know about it on paper and have never actually dealt with it.

Next up is when you tell some pilot on here how to fly planes, and not to be angry that his/her co pilot is blind yet is a co pilot anyways due to Affirmative Action. Just tell them to "deal with it".

Since you mention things that are beyond your control, don't harp about a law you will never change. Anyway that's all you're really *doing*... harp harp harp about under-performers. You have avenues to handle that. Deal with it. Trying to bring up the unintended effect- in some cases, is not a smart way of arguing the intent of the law, which is inclusion, and goes far beyond the specific instances of bad apples making it up the performance ladder.

Again, if you are in a line of work directly impacted by Affirmative Action-supplied candidates that are a clear menace to safety- that in itself should be sufficient prime material for a legal challenge to the law. Since you don't have that kind of inspiration, you're reduced to whining about it on the internet.

I already stated why I thought it good to have this law on the books. It infuriates racist jerks, and for that reason alone, I am completely satisfied with their existence. So yes, deal with it.

I just caught that. "Deal with management"? lol ? This is Iron Work we are talking about...there is no company management we deal with. We deal with the union...as in the union BA. We have no "management" other than the union. We don't see any "suits" on the job site other than an inspector now and then, and those guys are inspectors only for the fact they couldn't cut the mustard in the trades so they took the lower paying job aka "inspector". They are about as useful as tits on a nun.

Don't tell me to not "harp about it". It's peoples f*cing lives we are talking about including my own. Now until you actually learn something useful about this racist law, back off and save your theory's for the other desk jockey's who don't have a clue.

Your whining on here is what makes me sick. Every post on here you have some bs snide post against anyone on here who is pro gun, pro upholding the current immigration laws, and guys who like hot slutty chicks. Iv'e met your type before time and time again...all talk and do nothing. Again until you have dealt with this law save it for someone who's buying it.

If I ever need advice on how to deal with this racist law it sure won't be from someone who doesn't have a clue on it.

Cool, I just learned something today.

So take it up with the union. If this is a serious safety issue you should really consider turning whistleblower if you have the mustard to do 'what's right.'

How's your racism coming along today Danno?

You still haven't answered those questions about your personal feelings. Remember that?

Who do you think makes the union hire these people? It's the GOVERNMENT and that's all because of that racist law called AFFIRMATIVE ACTION.
