Hi all. USCIS received our AOS package on 4/4. Monday will mark 4 weeks since we have sent out package. We have received the NOA on 4/18. I'm just curious as to whether or not it usually takes this long. According to the website, our AOS has not been touched since 4/9. Should I make a call somewhere, or am I just being impatient as I tend to do?

Some people waited 5 months for biometrics, so 4 weeks is not too bad. I waited 2 months later, then a month later i got my interview letter. So just because your biometrics arrives late doen's mean your interview is pushed back, it can come right after biometrics is done.

Good luck in your journey!

Hi,

one thing I learned in my AOS process is that you just have to be patient - sure, it is frustrating to see people who filed around the same time like you have their fingerprints taken and you haven't even received an appointment yet.

And that's what's the "problem" - there is no standard as for when you will have your biometrics appointment, nor you interview appointment as both depend on your local USCIS office. Some offices may be swamped with cases, not only AOS, and have only limited staff in the office that can take your prints and your picture. It literally depends on their workload. And as my pre-poster has pointed out, it can take months, it can take weeks, there is no required timeframe that USCIS has to comply to.

Your package has been received 19 business days ago. In this time it was received, checked if its complete and has the right amount of fees paid for, your checks have been administered and then sent to your local application support center for a fingerprinting appointment. Not bad actually how much has been done since you mailed it out!? :)

So, try to distract yourself, enjoy life, take up a hobby or something and just go around business as usual just to be surprised that sooner rather then later you have an envelope in your mailbox inviting you to come by and smile for your green card photo :)

Good luck on your AOS journey

Agreed with Maxximus. I received my biometrics two months after I filed when some people who also filed AOS at the same time as me got there's in less than 3 weeks. It was soooo frustrating and I thought USCIS had forgotten about me.

Finally got the biometrics letter and did a walk-in, then I got my interview letter 1.5 months later (after biometrics) and now have my GC. Some of the filers who got their bio done very early, especially the New York City ppl, still haven't gotten the interview letter.

There is no way to tell with these things but in general, if your field office isn't backlogged the whole process will be around 4-5 mos. from when you filed.

Nov. 5: Sent AOS Package

Nov 17: AOS received by USCIS

April 1: INTERVIEW DAY. Approved!!!!!!

Early June: Moved to New York City. The only relevant city in the world ;)
