My Fiancé will be entering the United states May 4th at about 1 am , POE is Dulles International , I ( the U.S Citizen) will not be with her but will be at the airport waiting. I have 1 real concern and that is that My fiancé is Brasilian and we speak Spanish to each other as it was my first language , her command of the English language is not that strong and add in the nervousness she will most likely have will make it even harder for her if she asked a bunch of questions in English . My question is has anyone had a fiancé come through on her own without speaking English excellent? How did it go? Any insight is greatly appreciated

Don't worry, this is not an uncommon thing. Lots of visitors and first time visa holders do not speak any English. They have immigration officers that speak different languages, and Spanish is a very common one. If they can't understand her they will find someone who will.

Usually, depending on the number of incoming international flights and where they are from, CBP has a couple Customs agents on duty who speak the main language of those countries in which the plane is coming from.

A lot of the time when I get back from Brazil through Dulles, I have 1 or 2 flights from India arriving as well, so they usually have a few agents who speak spanish, portuguese and hindi on duty.

So don't worry :) If anything, they def. have agents who speak spanish.
