English only in these forums please.

That being said, my school French translation tells me you have been together 2 years but have not met in person, you only did skype and Facebook, is that right? If so, you cannot petition for the K1 yet, as you must have met in person within 2 years of applying.

Hey "Governor"..

Like the other said.. English only ..

The thing is.. It doesnt matter how long or how serious your relationship is, but if you guys didn't mmet physically during the past 2 years. It is not going to be approved.

So you have to meet physically and then apply ASAP.

Also, it might be a red flag is you met only once before filing, but if you can proove that you have a strong and steady relationship otherwise, and share a lot of backgrounnd together, it shouldnt be a problem.

Even though, they have issues in Ivory Coast right now, you guys can always meet somewhere else.. (Wher your fiance doesnt need a visa maybe?.. [CEDEAO, Marocco..etc) and then apply for the K1. So DO NOT apply for the K1 if you didnt meet within the past 2 years because they are going to reject it and it is going to be a waste of time, energy and resources.

Best, You can always inbox me in french if you need more details.

Peace.

Make arrangements to meet in person, and document it well (keep boarding passes,, take lots of photos, ideally with family etc)

If you get married, you'd file for the CR-1 spousal visa. Advantage is that it is cheaper and you get a greencard upon entry, ie can work right away. The K1 is a little faster generally though.

However, you should meet first, take lots of photos etc, and I would not recommend getting married on the first trip. Not only because it is the first time you meet eachother and you may feel differently when meeting in person, but also because it is seen as a red flag (= negative thing) by many US embassies to get married on the first trip. The Ivory Coast is a difficult US consulate to get a visa from, so the more you avoid red flags the better.
