just wanted to get a feel for public opinion on inprisoning people in secret.(i think very dangerous)

I haven't read too much in this latest revelation but I'm thinking that Bush acknowledging the secret prisons is a political ploy to say, yeah we have 'em, but we were able to extract information that lead to the foiled plot recently with liquid explosives. If I read that correctly, he's a horses #######. Secondly, there was already criticism and a growing public demand for the truth about whether we had these prisons before and the White House officially denied it.

Yesterday, I watched just a little on CNN while at the gym and one Republican Senator was making the argument that military rules for treatment of prisoners doesn't apply here because the CIA is a civilian organization. #######??? And after all the criticism Clinton got over arguing about what is 'is'. Talk about legal hairsplitting. Holy Shiite!

I just hope this little political maneuver comes back to bite Bush in the #######.

Anybody else noticed how busy he's been lately? First talking about Bin Laden and now this? I smell election time just around the corner.

i cant wait for election day.but posting here makes me worry its amazing how many people dont understand that our democracy itself is in danger ,not from terrorist but from those who wish to control us with fear.this administation and thier party want power and will do anything to keep it.

Hmm maybe like putting those of us who disagree with them in a "secret" CIA prison and torture us?

EDIT: their justification would be since we do not agree with the we MUST be terrorist or "terrorist sympathizers".

And walking into the voting booth and voting 100% Democrat is the catch all solution? I wish that the myriad of problems in our country were so simple to solve...but I don't think so.

Exactly! Using trial lawyers to twist legalities is nothing new, but its ironic - because that's the exact complaint that the administration had about the Supreme Court two years ago.

Similarly while any sort of comment that even hints at an attempt to question the ethicality of the policy is jumped on as "supporting the enemy", that criticism assumes an unquestioned assumption that those in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay are "supposed" to be there (in other words assuming guilt before being proved innocent).

There have been some questions over that issue - that certain of the detainees should never have been imprisoned and were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, which incidentally would explain why many of the detainees have been released without any charge whatsoever.

Of course noone can verify this for certain because the administration keeps denying the captives due process of law, laws which are observed for USC's - even those accused of the most horrific crimes.

well said,we give due process for all criminals ,how are SUSPECTED terrorist any different ,it is very dangerous to all of our freedom to start taking away those in any group,even terrorist,without first proving thier guilty
