It seems like everybody is talking about getting more hangers. Which is a pretty good idea since my wife is already talking about buying new clothes before her trip here!!

No doubt she'll have plenty of fun shopping here in Seattle.

Yeah, but several things will be a shock for her

1. Everything costs several times more than it cost in Vietnam. While $100 would fund a shopping spree in Vietnam, it won't even buy a complete outfit in the US.

2. Most of the clothing here is made in China. If your wife is anything like mine then this won't sit well with her. As much as she hated clothing made in Vietnam when she lived there, she goes out of her way to find clothing made in Vietnam here.

3. Most of the clothing here does NOT say "Sport" on it.

4. English words on clothing here are usually spelled correctly, and phrases are not non-sensical. I still laugh at my wife's "Bunnys & Oyanges" school bag and "Love is me happy!" t-shirt.

5. Designer brands here are actually made by the designer, and not just anybody who wants to stick a designer logo on their product. Designer brands are also priced accordingly. For God's sake, don't let her near any designer shops in Seattle until she's been here long enough to get a sense for budgeting. She'll hyperventilate over spending $50 on a pair of Levi's, but won't bat an eye about spending $250 for a Coach bag! In the meantime, the "Giorgio Armani" wallet she bought me in Vietnam began disintegrating within weeks of when I began using it, mainly because it was mostly held together with rubber cement.

Michael - tell her not to buy any new clothes over there. The style is different. The good stuff is always cheaper over here in the US, especially if you set her loose in a Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls, TJ Maxx or Ross.
