Is this a routine response?

Our I-129F petition was approved April 6, received by NVC April 11, and sent on to Manila April 13. Until now I have been unable to schedule an interview online, as I keep getting the error message "case type number invalid". Others here have said that means the case has not been uploaded into the embassy system. I emailed the USEM to inquire, and this is the reply I got:

We received the electronic file from the State Department's National Visa Center (NVC) today April 28, 2011, and should receive the U.S. Immigration Service-approved visa petition (Form I-129F) shortly.

As soon as we receive the I-129F petition from NVC, you will be notified in writing regarding the interview scheduling.

Is this a routine response? I was not aware that there was an electronic as a well as a paper file. And it seems to me quite a long delay if they have not received the petition itself from NVC if it had left on April 13 (2 weeks ago now).

Has anyone had a similar response / experience?

Yes, you're fiancee (beneficiary) is supposed to receive a packet. But some don't get it or they receive it late so some opt to get their case number from NVC/USEM so they can schedule the medical and interview and work on the other requirements even if they don't have the packet yet. :)

TIMELINE:

Feb 01, 2011 - Sent I-129F to Texas Lockbox

Feb 07, 2011 - I-129F Received

Feb 19, 2011 - NOA1 (Mail)

May 13, 2011 - NOA2 (e-mail notice)

May 17, 2011 - NOA 2 (Mail)

May 28, 2011 - Got case number after 2 weeks of waiting

May 30-31, 2011 - 2-day Medical at SLMEC (without the NVC letter, just the MCN)

July 01, 2011 - Interview (APPROVED despite delayed documents!)

July 14, 2011 - Picked up visa from 2Go Main

July 15, 2011 - Bought one-way ticket for first time immigrant (rate)

July 18, 2011 - CFO at SMEF-COW

July 31, 2011 - Flight to the US! (Finally!)

I know about the packet and that many here don't receive it. That's why I have been trying to schedule the interview myself online as I already have the case number. But still can't get through.

I am just confused that USEM says they still have not received the file when the NVC has said it was sent to Manila on April 13.

Hi, I've done the same thing we got approved on March 28 and got our NOA2 on April 2.My Fiance called the NVC and gave him our Manila Case number and that it left on April 5th because too excitement I emailed the IVManilaReplies@state.gov and they replied after an hour and said that they received our petition on April 13. After that I waited for few days and paid the Visa Fee last April 20 and tried to schedule my interview last April 25 online and I didn't have a hard time scheduling my interview. Be patient in trying to follow up your case and emailed them everyday so you can pay now and schedule your interview too. God Bless you

we got the same email on the day it was supposed to be received by the USEM, and got 2 of the same emails receiving our case file electronically on 2 different dates :bonk: . I called everyday until they told me that they finally found it!(sigh!)after 12 working days (excluding the days the Embassy was closed bec of the move to a new building)so this is not new... Good luck!

Nothing out of the ordinary is going on with your case. It's all routine.

There is an electronic file and there is a physical file. Your physical file has arrived at the Embassy but they haven't entered it into their system yet. That usually takes some time. However, it shouldn't be too much longer before they enter your physical file into their system. Once they do that, you will be able to schedule an interview online or through the call center. Just keep trying every day.

I assume the visa fee has been paid already.

Good luck! :star:

To the OP: The below might be the sequel to the letter you got yesterday since we seem to have the same NVC and USEM receipt dates. Sounds promising but don't count on it yet.

The 2nd paragraph seems to be an admission that the eligibility letter sent thru mail is really superfluous. No need for that white lie come interview time B-) (Their call center agents have to be better briefed though. One of them still insists that I should wait for that confounded letter.)

"We received the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)-approved visa petition (I-129F) from the State Department's National Visa Center (NVC) on April 28, 2011, and notified you in writing that you are eligible to be scheduled for a visa interview at the Embassy.

You need not wait for the hard copy of our letter and may now visit this website: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph or contact the Embassy’s Visa Information and Appointment Service at (632) 982-5555 or (632) 902-8930 to schedule a visa interview date. The Visa Information and Appointment Service is open from 6:00 a.m. ....."

Hi to everyone!!!!!!

We just had our K-1 petition approval on April 26th and got our NOA2 in the mail April 30th. Now that we got approved and our petition was sent to NVC what is next?

I would like to ask some questions about how to set up your medical and Interview appointment. My fiance will be applying for visa in U.S Embassy, Manila Philippines

Thanks in advance and I appreciate all facts and experience you share

Questions:

What is Packet 3 and 4?

To those who went to this stage how did you set up your medical and interview appt? (for Philippines K-1 applicant)

Do we have to pay the visa fee before we can schedule a medical and interview date?

Thank you again for your answers and thoughts!!

Sounds like an eligibility letter...and yes! some did not receive the hard copy of the said letter when they got the same email and proceed to pay the visa fee, get their interview date and medical. It wouldn't be asked in the interview anyway. You need it tho for the medical exam:)

Hi Chris and Lani...

There is no packet 3 and there is no packet 4.

You have to pay the visa fee before you are allowed to schedule the interview. However, you can complete the medical before you pay the visa fee.

Here are the basics:

The NVC will send your K-1 petition to the U.S. Embassy Manila (USEM). When the USEM receives your petition, they will enter it into their system. This could take two or three weeks. An interview appointment can be made only after the USEM enters your petition into their system.

After the USEM enters your petition into their system, they are supposed to send your beneficiary a letter telling the beneficiary that they are eligible to schedule an interview. The letter sometimes never arrives, so don't wait too long for it. Instead, pay the visa fee and begin trying to schedule an interview. You will know when your petition has been entered into the USEM's system because you will be allowed to schedule an interview. You will schedule an interview either online or by phone.

After the interview is scheduled, the beneficiary should complete the medical about a week before the interview. The beneficiary will need a copy of the NOA2, and/or the NVC letter, and/or the interview appointment confirmation sheet in order to be admitted for the medical. The medical is on a walk-in basis only. No appointment is needed nor possible.

In case you don't receive the eligibility from the USEM, here is a copy of it.

Good luck! :star:

SLMEC was fine with the interview appointment letter and the NVC letter (containing case number) I showed them during the medical (although I brought the petition approval notice too for good measure). Best to have 2 copies of each.

Grace

P.S. The letter I quoted above was their e-mail reply to me when I followed up.
