Absolutely. And I say that because you get the child tax credit even if your tax liability is zero - i.e. you get that $1,000.00 even if you have paid $0.00 in income taxes for the tax year. The government will pay you whether you have a tax liability or not. Hence, it's a tax credit rather than a deduction.

First of all, I haven't said that I am not receiving any subsidies. I am. Child Tax credit, mortgage interest deduction, 401K and HSA account contributions, just to name a few. I'll complain about these subsides if I was pulling down upwards of a million bucks a day. And if that didn't help, I'd probably donate it. Besides, I had no lobbyist making sure that those subsidies are coming to me and I still have no lobbyist fighting to keep them in place. You see, the oil companies and corporate America as a whole has written the tax codes. They got what they purchased and continue to get what they purchase. I'd rather they don't be able to purchase legislation and just pay their share like the rest of us.

are you sure about that? surely you know realtors, home builders, and so on know home sales would dry up without the mortgage deduction.

I'm on board. Those that purchased the tax code - Corporate America - surely aren't.
