Need proof of minimum income for visa for wife?

I have heard that if an American has already married in a foreign country, that he does not have to show he has a minimum income (whatever this is) to get a visa to the United States for his foreign wife. What I was told that he only has to show that he has a minimum income if he wants a visa to bring his foreign fiancee to the United States to marry her in the United States. I wonder if someone would let me know if it is true that he does not need to show he has a minimum income to bring the woman he has already married to the U.S?

You will need to show your income is 120% of the poverty line to apply for a green card for your spouse. The point in the process in which you will have to prove this varies depending on what route you take to get the GC - but at one point or another, you will have to prove sufficient income. About $18,000 for a household of two people. No getting around that.

You have been told incorrect information. The US citizen must prove income that is at least 125% of the poverty line for their household for a spouse visa petition.

when fileing 1-130 cr-1you will need to file a 1-864 affidivat of support proverty guide line for two people 18,387----three people 23,162--four 27,937...if you file 1-129f you still need to show income.

Perhaps is form # confusion, step/process confusion?

fiance visa - show I-134 on interview day at US Embassy IV Unit

Spouse Visa - submit I-864 to NVC office, way prior to interview day.

An I-864 is required for a spouse visa but not at the time the I-130 is filed. The I-864 is submitted to the National Visa Center, months later, AFTER the I-130 is approved.

ah - other errata

For a K-3 visa, usually the I-134 is submitted at the US Embassy.

The I-134 is also submitted for a fiance visa.

Both use the same I-129F form - perhaps that's the confusion ?
