PCC w/wo fingerprints? How to pay?

We require a police clearance certificate from Australia. On the appropriate site (http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks/national-police-checks.aspx) two types are listed: with fingerprints and without. Which is correct for DS-230 purposes?

The application says that payment must be in Australian dollars, personal checks must be from Australian banks, and cash is not allowed. I guess that leaves cashier's checks? Do those have to be from an Australian bank or are they cash value anywhere in the world? How do I get a cashier's check or other instrument in AUD?

Additionally, the Australian police service says that their PCCs are only valid on the day they are issued, it's up to the recipient how long to consider them valid. How long will USCIS consider them valid? 3 months? 6 months? a year?

I have since received information on the topic from the horse's mouth. Since my wife is not currently an Australian citizen or resident but resided in Queensland at one point, we need a National Police Certificate (NPC) from the Australian Federal Police (AFP), not a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from Queensland.

According to the US State Department, the NPC must be done with fingerprints.

According to my bank, most federal governments can cash most cashier's checks from most US banks. My bank can issue a cashier's check in AUD but requires several days to order it and charges a $25 fee.

I am currently waiting for feedback from the AFP on the details of filling out the form, payment, and fingerprints; I'll post that info when I get it.
