If you are talking about your mom changing her name I do not think you need to do anything somebody please correct me if I am wrong. If you changed your name you might need some type of documentation but I am not sure how the UK does that, I just know for Thailand if you changed your name you need documentation from your amphoe where you were born. A for what you need to do next read the following link and look at packet 3 and packet 4.My link It is a little different from Thailand and other people from the UK will know better then I do about completing. You will need a police report from every country you lived in for over 6 months and you will need to get one from Thailand, I am not sure how you will have to get it you might have to call or email the Thai embassy in London. I do not know how far out the UK embassy is for giving interviews but your paperwork still needs to be received by them.

It should be a few weeks to around a month or so for the embassy in the UK for them to get your paperwork. Now that you completed your paperwork is sent to the National Visa Center where it can stay there for a few days to 5 - 7 weeks but normally a few days. Contact them in about a week and find out if they received your paperwork and find out if has left the NVC. You should also ask for your new case number for the embassy. To call them do the following:

1-603-334-0700

Press 2 for Non-Haiti-Related issue (Please note that this will probably change after some time)

Press 1 for English

Press 5 for an operator

After it has left the NVC you then need to call the Department of State to find out if it has been received by the embassy in the UK. This will probably take another week or so. To call them do the following:

1-202-663-1225

Press 1 for the Main Menu

Press 4 for Foreigners Applying To Come To the US

Press 2 for Immigrant Visas (yeah, yeah - we know they're not really)

Press 3 for Family or Employer Based Visas

Press 2 for Fiance(e) visas

Press 0 for an Operator

If you find out what date your paperwork left the NVC follow this visa journey link about tracking shipments from dhl. You usually want to use the date 1 day or 1 day after the NVC tells you the date. My link

I am guessing you are going to have more questions and that is why we are all here. Good luck.
