getting an SS number

hey just wanted to see what was going on with my getting an SS number if any one has an idea.

i went to apply today, 3 and a half weeks after entering the states....and i was told my I-94 wasnt verified by homeland security and would probably take about 4 weeks to get a number.

is this normal? why is it taking so long?

You might not be entered in the system yet - give it the extra weeks and try again. (or sooner, like in 2 weeks)

Mine took 4 weeks, they had to check manually on my files. Because it was not in the " save " system until a little later. But that was 4 weeks including the mail time to our place.

Just keep calling them and checking on it or they will " forget " and then tell you its too late and you have to wait till you have your green card.

thanks il give it a couple of weeks then give them a call to see whats going on with it

Just be on their neck...keep visiting their office. You may try another office if possible...After a month, one is meant to be on the system.
