I had cosmetic surgery on the NHS, and stayed overnight, does that count as hospitalized. I would say no, as for hospitalized means something went wrong and required hosptial treatment. What do you think?

Also, is asthma a lung disease? (if so I have a note from doctor saying it is mild, sympton free, and no medication needed)

This is just my 2 cents on your question, but please don't rely on what i'm going to say 100% xD

1. if you're confused whether getting cosmetic surgery is considered being "hospitalized" or not, i would say

NO.. because the cause of your hospitalization is not of an illness that someone may get it from you (infectious diseases, etc.)

BUT.. the nurse that will assess you will ask these all over again, so you can ask her if getting a cosmetic surgery considered as that. :)

2. i don't think asthma is considered a disease. it is a condition of one person. it is treatable, but not in a way like an upper respiratory tract infection would be (like a URTI can be treated to make it go away) asthma would always be there no matter what.. :)

that's just what i thought.. :) and if you are still confused, you can just ask the nurse or whoever will assess you tomorrow for your medical... they will ask these questions :)

When they asked me if I took medications for anything I told them I take Ventolin for asthma when needed. I had my Dr write down the same thing and had it to present at the medical. It was not needed. Asthma is not a disease and they are not worried about that anyway. No one can catch it from you :-)

Hospitalization is the duration of stay you spend in the hospital, generally more than 1 day. Doesn't always mean you were in a serious accident and you were hospitalized for it.

Nothing wrong with writing too much information on the forms the medical doctors give you to fill out. They will look at what you write and decide if it is relevant or not :-) For example, there is a question about fits, seizures, that kind of thing, and I wrote that I had had a febrile convulsion as a baby. I think I also may have written that I was hospitalized for one day either for that or something else when I was a tiny tot. It won't cause a problem if you answer "yes" and then explain. So even if you write "yes" for the lung disease and then write asthma, they won't go wondering if you have TB. The NHLBI does call asthma a lung disease...

I'd have thought hospitalisation is any treatment not in out patients, anything with an overnight stay. I had to answer yes to this question, even though this was two operations I had as a baby
