Hi everyone

My fiance received his Social Security Card and his State ID in Chicago.. well my question is where do i apply for our marriage license?? because i heard i need a license in order to get married n get the certificate...how long does that process take..is there like an appointment that i have to make to get the license?? once i get the license can we get married right away??.

You need to check the requirements with your local Chicago (or wherever you live) country clerk or City Hall, or whatever government office marries people. Every state has its own laws. Most states have waiting periods between the license and the marriage, to prevent people from getting drunk and getting married when they don't really want to.

Jovana each state is different as said before but you both need to go to the local court house and apply for a marriage license. We did it in Florida within the hour and got our license. Then you can get married
