Hi everyone.

I'm filing AOS very soon and there is this thing that is asking for tax returns for recent years.

IS THE W-2 form of tax returns enough?

Tnx in advance.

If they ask for tax returns then send tax returns. W-2s are not a substatute. You can get a free tax transcript here

No, a W-2 is a statement of wages, and you need to submit a complete tax return. A complete tax return differs for every person, but includes the W-2s, any 1099s, and also the 1040 form or equivalent, and any schedules or other tax forms you filed. If you are unsure what your personal complete tax return looks like, then you can order tax transcripts, as linked above, which includes all parts of your personal complete tax return. Good luck.

If you need to get a transcript faster, just visit one of the IRS offices. You may get stuck in there for half a day but at least you'll get it on the same day. Unfortunately, that's what I ended up doing cause it took too long to have them mail it to you. Good luck!

I assume your wife is the USC - she needs to show that she can support you, i.e. prove she is earning 20% more than the current poverty line for two people (assuming your household size is two). To prove that income, she needs to submit the transcripts.

Filing the financial affidavit with your AOS is most definitely not optional. The instructions for I-864 are also pretty clear:

You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years.

So, either transcript or a copy of your own records of tax return - you can choose which. But you have to submit one or the other.

Thank you .. yeah I have read and seen.. but we have this bunch of tax documents ( for last three years) and there is this thing FORM 8878, 1040 EZ and W2.

WHICH ONE SHOULD I COPY?

As stated above, you need all of it. Your wife knows what is in her complete tax return, and not us. As I said, it differs from person to person. I don't see anything obviously missing from what you state, but only your wife or whoever does her taxes knows for sure.
