Just wanted to share my ROC interview experience. It was very brief, in my opinion, since my situation is very unique. (USC spouse currently incarcerated and therefore cannot accompany me to the interview). The IO just asked straight forward facts like what's your husband's name, when is his bday, when did u get married, when did u first came to the US, when was he arrested, how long has he been incarcerated. Basically, she just asked for dates. And if we have children...we do not. She also asked where I worked and where he worked. Then after that, she said, "Is there anything else you would like me to add to your file?" At which point, I showed her pictures of the wedding, pictures of us together, letters from family/friends about our marriage, his letter of apology for not being able to appear in the interview, his lawyer's letter, bills, bank accounts, etc. Then she said "Ok, I will have to review your case and we will notify you of our decision".

My lawyer thinks it went well. He thinks I will know within the month. But the IO was hard to read and I feel sick to my stomach because she didn't ask personal questions. No questions about how we maintain our relationship, etc etc.

This site is very helpful to me, and I am writing my experience to help others who are in a similar situation. I hope I get my 10yr GC soon! :whistle:

hey warwick! based on your words there, i think everything went well for you!! hey just a quick question... when you submitted your ROC paperwork did you tell USCIS that he was incarcerated and thats the reason why you were called for an interview? or was it just you were called for an interview and then told them during the interview why he couldn't come ??

This could predict the outcome, largely or in part. Most ROC cases are approved without interview, but 10% of applications must result in an interview (statutory requirement). If the questions were seemingly that perfunctory, was this interview part of the 10%?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

When we filed the RoC, there was no question in the form about the USC being incarcerated so we left that detail out. My husband wrote a cover letter also leaving out the fact that he is incarcerated. When I got the notice letting me know that I have a pending interview, that was when I looked for a lawyer and some lawyers thought I filed my RoC wrong, that I should have filed with a waiver, etc etc but this lawyer I hired said I did everything right and that they called me for an interview just to get the facts straightened out or it was something random.

I really hope I hear from them soon. Also, when I check my online status, my file has not been "touched" since my biometrics which was 8/20/2010.

What do you think guys?

Thanks for the clarifications. Well, you didn't report anything that rings any of my alarm bells, no man, and your attorney is satisfied, si man, so just wait and hope for the best. Almost nothing in the immigration process is 100% assured, of course.

In regard to your online status, don't sweat it. A couple of years ago, I asked an IO at USCIS about this, and he said that if EVERY case were to be updated EVERY TIME something happened, the action would crash the USCIS computer system.

In July 2010, bio done 8/20/10 and interview 4/26/11. I also filed in vsc!

The officer was very serious, questioned the whole marriage. No small talk or smiles through the interview. A lot of yes and no questions. At the end, she stated she will review the case and the decision will be mailed. She took my greencard and my passport was stamped with a 90-day I-551. She gave no indication of approving the case.

I have been checking the mail everyday since Tuesday and on the USCIS website but still shows initial review.

Did they tell you they will mail you the decision?

Yes, she said the same thing, "We will review the case, and will notify you of our decision". She made a photocopy of my greencard and my license but did not ask for my passport. Is it the usual to get a stamp? :(
