Thanks to Trump and his unflinching questions concerning the birth of Child-Obama.... the Birth question is now metastasizing as the vast majority of Americans, question the basic facts about our President.

Poll: What kind of president would Donald Trump make?

WASHINGTON — Republicans may be ready for a fling with Donald Trump, but a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows they have reservations about installing him in the White House.

By Alex Brandon, AP

The real estate developer and reality TV star, who scores at the top in polls of the GOP field these days, falls to fourth when Republicans are asked to rate who among the contenders would be a “good” or “great” president in office.

Fifty percent of Americans, including 31% of Republicans, say Trump would make a “poor” or “terrible” president.

“Trump is filling a huge void in the Republican Party right now, and he’s gathering a protest vote: protest against the way Washington works; protest with the establishment Republicans,” says Scott Reed, manager for Bob Dole’s 1996 presidential campaign. “The jury is still out whether Trump can translate that into a real candidacy for president.”

His possible bid faces broad resistance: 63% of Americans, including 46% of Republicans, say they definitely will not vote for Trump for president. In comparison, 46% of Americans say they definitely will not vote for President Obama — significantly lower but itself a hurdle to winning the 2012 election.

Though Trump initially got attention by expressing doubts whether Obama was born in the USA, that issue is not driving his support. Among those who say they definitely or might vote for Trump, only about a third question whether the president was born in the USA.

Support from the “birthers” is stronger for Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney. The issue has persisted even though Hawaii has released an official Certificate of Live Birth showing Obama was born there, a fact confirmed in non-partisan investigations by FactCheck.org and others.

Still, in the USA TODAY poll, only 38% of Americans say Obama definitely was born in the USA, and 18% say he probably was. Fifteen percent say he probably was born in another country, and 9% say he definitely was born elsewhere.

Views already are polarized about President Obama and some major Republican candidates for 2012.

Source: USA TODAY/Gallup Poll of 1,013 adults. April 20-23. Margin of error +/-4 percentage points.

Republicans are inclined to say the president was born abroad by 43%-35%.

For what it’s worth, not everyone is convinced Trump was born in the USA either: 43% say he definitely was born here, and 20% say he probably was; 7% say he definitely or probably was born in another country. Nearly three in 10 say they don’t know enough to say.

The poll of 1,013 adults, taken Wednesday to Saturday, has a margin of error of +/–4 percentage points.

Well, yes. You're clearly part of the idiot crowd that can't accept the simple fact that 1) Obama is a born US citizen and that 2) he didn't break into the white House ut was duly elected to the office that lets him reside there. So, you and yours make up these poll numbers that make this country look like a bunch of idiots.

There's no faith required in the matter. I've seen what there is to be seen. It's available online for anyone to see. You purposely don't want to see because you feel more comfortable questioning the legitimacy of our duly elected President. You find comfort in engaging in this conspiracy nonsense. And that is what makes you the idiot here.

I would tend to believe that. After all, them Donuts are shitty and your story would explain why. :jest:

You just don't get it Danno, there is no conspiracy. People who think Obama is a Kenyan Manchurian Candidate are idiots. The man submitted the same documents as his adversary, who was born in the panama canal zone. Now, I wonder why you don't go off on some wild deluded fantasy about McCain. Do you remember the few liberals who contested that? Even they gave up in the face of their stupidity, yet you birthers double down on your insanity every time. Birthers are an embarrassment to this country and its citizens.

It's not unreasonable to not be certain that Obama was born in the US and anyone who claims to be certain is actually being too assuming. There hasn't been strong evidence that Obama was born in the US that I have seen. There have been statements issued by some officials in Hawaii but it seems to me that either something is up or Obama enjoys keeping it ambiguous because it distracts from the real issues. Otherwise, I think it would be easy for him to clear it up. Yeah, I know he's a busy man and doesn't want to distract from the real issues, yada, yada, yada. But it wouldn't take long to assign some junior aid to look up and get the birth certificate. And as far as distracting from the issues, Donald Trump (I hope this is a publicity stunt and the man isn't serious about running for president) is dominating the news basically by attacking Obama's birth certificate. If you want to focus on the issues, spend the 5 minutes it would take to put this behind him.

The larger question is really how much does it matter? I don't like Obama's policies and don't think he is a good president, but I don't really think that attacking his birth certificate is a useful and worthwhile exercise for the country as a whole. But since we're here and it's out there, Obama needs to be a leader and take the actions that will move the country forward to important issues.
