Hello everyone,

I am currently applying for adjustment of status and EAD. This is my question: on the EAD application, it asks if you ever had a work authorization in the U.S. before. I am now on a K1 visa (already married) but I was here last year on a J1 and did have a work authorization. The application asks which INS office I applied with, the outcome, and for documentation. I do not have access to these things as I was with a work and travel program and have left my home country. What do I do? (I am not subject to the 2 year restriction, BTW). Thanks!

we are all of the same kind

Boris,

There is no such question on the I-765. You have mis-stated a question that is on the I-765, changing the meaning in the process.

Read carefully.

Boris,

I was in the same boat as you after reading that question, having had a J-1 visa in the past. I put "no" to having had work authorization before and they approved it with no problem.

On the bright side, you already have a SSN so as soon as you recive the EAD you can start work without having to wait another few weeks for more paperwork to be processed!
