We tried to fight it and we are still fighting.

If you are still fighting, why do you want to leave? I thought that if you appeal, you can stay until appeal is over.

I need help please. My fiance now husband got here on k-1 visa on april 28 2012. I am applying for AOS for him. I am confused about the I-864.. the previous affidavit of support was filled out by my brother in law (sister's husband) because I have no means of financial aid and I live with my parents. So my question is do I ask my brother in law to fill out the i-864 again or do i fill it out and get my brother in law to fill it out as well?? Please help, time is of essence. thank you!

The I-134 should have been included with the K1, not the I-864. Either way yes, you'll need the I-864 to be done "again".

Thank you for replying back. I had filled out the I-134 which was included with the I-129F/K-1. I included both the one I filled out and the one my brother in law had filled out in the packet. So do I follow what I did previously, by filling one out myself and the other by my brother in law and including both of them in the I-485 packet? Also, my husband had his medical examinations done in October 2011 and then again in April 2012, do I take the I-693 to a doctor to fill out or can I fill it out myself? (I know stupid question, but help please, thanks! Appreciate it!)

Definitely no reason to panic. Have you even received your NOA yet? A week is very, very fast to get a biometrics letter. Typical is within 30 days but it is well within the normal range to wait 2 months or longer if your local office is backed up.

If you fill in your timeline, it will help others to give you better answers, such as their experience with your local office.

Can't answer regarding the email or text - when we went through the process, they did not, however that may have changed in the last year and a half.

Hello Everyone! I'm new to this site, and would like to get a little bit of feedback from you guys. I'm about to file for my AOS & I would like to know if anyone has done this process on your own? I'm undecided whether to hire a lawyer or just do it my self? I know it is a serious matter so hiring a lawyer would be more ideal, but honestly it is a bit pricey. Any suggestions? Has anyone done this process on your own? And if so, would you recommend doing it myself or just have a lawyer do it for me? Thank you I would really appreciate any suggestions!

We did everything ourselves. Few days ago I finished with my biometrics, now I am waiting. They said 2-3 months. Also, I got the letter that my case is transferred to California center.

When they were taking my Biometrics in NY office, there were some problems with one lady. She had a lawyer filling her papers and he did all wrong so they told her to go back, returned her the papers, no biometrics were taken, and now she has to wait all over again. And she paid the lawyer to do it! So, it is not always guaranteed that the lawyer will do things the proper way.

Oh Wow. This is exactly the feedback that I was looking for. I really appreciate your time telling me your experience. And I'm going to go ahead and start gathering together all the things needed for this process. To tell you the truth one of the main reasons why I was thinking of hiring a lawyer was because this whole process seems bit I mean not "bit" "very" overwhelming to me. But like you said "it is not always guaranteed that the lawyer will do things the proper way." So might as well take a shot. Thank you once again for your feedback. Have a great day!
