I agree with all of you here that it's a horrible feeling, and my (L) goes out to all of you! I am currently apart from my fiance as well...and we all know how ####### this feelng is.

This is my only advice: I am not a pollyanna sort, but at the same time, I do try to pull some benefit out of the time apart....if only to make the time go by faster! I have taken to working all sorts of hours....busying myself with projects...goals that I want accomplished before D gets back here. That way, I can minimize the time I spend wallowing.

Now, it doesn't take ALL the pain away...but it certainly keeps my mind busy. We all know what it's like when we're waiting for time to go by...well, how about in the meantime using that time to your own advantage? As I said, I work crazy hours...but I also know that now is the time to do so...because when D gets here, I'm going to be busy with OUR life together as well as having to juggle job/other responsibilities/etc. So as much as I am heartsick & heartbroken that he's not here, I still think in the back of my head 'enjoy the freetime now, because things are going to change real soon'

I do hope this helps at least one person!

Good luck to all of us! And a big (((((HUG)))))) to natashabrenda & marriedmylove!!!

I too have been trying my best to enjoy my "alone time", doing things that I don't plan on doing when he gets here-like work two jobs for instance

I agree with you 100% you have to try and find the positives in the situation, even though most of the time it is impossible. I tell myself that when we are together-there will be NOTHING that we can't conquer. This process definetly gives you a thicker skin so to speak. I say let's get the bad times out of the way now ;)

I have spent less than two months away from my husband since we met (and not a day since we have been married), and those six weeks were hard enough. I feel for you so much.

That certainly sucks, but I agree with shonjaved

You have to stick it out through those six months, but then you'll have a lifetime together. And let me tell you- that time apart will pay off come reunification time! Seriously, it really makes you both realize how much you love and need each other. Stay strong, it will be over soon. My wife and I were apart for three months (felt like eternity), but since then we haven't spent more than 12 hours apart in 3 years!

Being apart from each other would be hard enough, but we also have to deal with so many financial problems right now.

His "buddy" he's working with and whom he's been staying with told us on Valentines Day that Jim needs to move out within 3 weeks. But since the house my fiances "friend" lives in is not his but he's only renting it ,he wont give us a written Statement about Jim always paying his rent on time and about the 500$ Pet Deposit Jim had to make for our dog,

We actually found a wonderful apartment and are approved BUT since Jim was in the MIlitary until August of last year he doesn't have a rental history on his credit report and that guy he was staying with would have been the only reference.Well now the Security Deposit we have to make for the apartment jumped up to 650$ due to no rental history...............

And the bad thing is that Jim has to pay for it all the day he picks up the key...........so that would have been on Wednesday, tomorrow.

We are waiting for his Tax refund from MN and his VA check but all that wont come in until the end of next week.

So now we may not even get the apartment and Jim may not have a place to stay..............

And of course we wont get the old Pet Deposit from Jerk back..................

Leaving is hard enough, but having to leave him in a situation like that is just horrible.

The distance is really difficult, but also offers an opportunity for personal and relationship growth. Those of us that have to go through this understand the phrase "you don't know what you've got until it's gone". That separation reminds us of our feelings and draws us closer together. We also appreciate the time we have together and when we are reunited, we always remember what it was like to be apart. It is really difficult but the foundation of the relationship is solidified in those moments of heartache.

Cherish the time you have together and never forget how it felt to have to say goodbye.....that will help you get through things when times are difficult. It's a great thing to feel that terrible, because you know you love that much. All my best and a big hug.

Oh jeez. I was NEVER good at the 'apart' thing. And we were very, very blessed really. We spent very little time apart compared to soooooooo many others on this board, as you can see by my signature below.

I would always be so mad at myself for being sad during those last few days together. I tried to be strong and laugh as much as possible, but I was lousy at it. Then after he left, each time I had a 3 hour drive home. I would not even have the radio on - just drive down the road alone and allowed myself to wallow in it, away from everybody. I also allowed myself to feel the stabbing pain in the immediate days following. I had to - it was cleansing.

I NEVER want to forget what that was like. We are married and together now. But I'm a middle-aged woman with plenty of 'relationship histories'. I know there will probably be days in the future when he will make me very very angry. I hope like hell that if and when that day comes, I can reach back down inside myself and remember the separation and the aloneness, and that it will still my tongue and settle my temper.

Ack, had I known you would have been making that drive I would have asked to meet for dinner or something. My husband and I met in Canada for 5 days and last night I wasnt far at all from the 401. This morning I dropped my husband off at the train station so that he could return to Toronto for his flight back to Sweden. Sometimes I dont know if seeing eachother makes it easier or not because the leaving him at train stations and airports is sooooo hard! :crying:
