But is there a way that i can renew my Visa HERE? I don't want to have to go back to my country to do it Specially cuz there is a chance i might not get it. Plus Flight tickets are expensive and I'm saving all my money for school. Thank you!

Aren't you adjusting status to legal permanent resident? Because you are married to a USC? You are fine status-wise while your AOS is pending, even though your current student visa will expire. You can also apply to another school with a pending AOS, but of course if your GC was denied for some reason, you would have to leave.

My understanding is that the visa itself cannot be renewed in the US. As long as he stays here with a valid I-20 (and his I-94 is stamped D/S), he does not need a valid visa. If he leaves the US, however, we will have to get a new visa abroad to be able to re-enter. The visa is the entry ticket to US - once he is in, he needs a current I-20 that reflects his study program and school, and a valid I-94. If he does not plan to travel abroad, the fact that his original visa has expired is not a problem.

He does plan on traveling. The thing is.. his father is sick and he doesn't know if he will need to go back for any emergency sometime, and without a VISA he can re enter.. and he's afraid even if he is enrolled to school they might deny the visa if he travels to renew.. I don't really understand that.. That makes it hard for all students.. Why can't just they renew it here like they do with the I-20??

Why does he think they wouldn't renew his visa? If he has been accepted to a new study program and has a valid I-20 reflecting that, there shouldn't be any issues with getting a new visa. Visas are only issued by US embassies or consulates abroad - he cannot get the F1 visa renewed in the US. When he knows his travel schedule, he should try to make an appointment with the consulate in his country to get his F1 renewed. The I-20 is not a visa - it is a document that shows that he has maintained his status as a student, and his duration of stay is still valid. The visa is for him to be able to enter. He will need a valid visa to come back, and the only way to get that is abroad.

If you are tansferring to another school, you dont need to renew your i-20 but you need a new i-20 from the school where you are transferring showing they have accepted you in the program.

Most likely your i-94 would say valid until status maiaintained, means you would be legally in the country as long as you take minimum number of hrs required to maintain your F1 status.

He does plan on traveling. The thing is.. his father is sick and he doesn't know if he will need to go back for any emergency sometime, and without a VISA he can re enter.. and he's afraid even if he is enrolled to school they might deny the visa if he travels to renew.. I did not catch this comment until I scrolled down, if he leaves the country with valid i-20 and permission of DSO from his school, he will have to apply for new F1 at his home country where he is travelling. He would not be able to enter US with expired F1 and valid I-20.
