cool! what state of the visa process are you at? are u in Miami? I'm in Hollywood...i'm awaiting my interview in June...my SO is from Dominican Republic.

I wish I lived in South Florida, it would mean nice temperatures year round!

Unfortunately, we live in the Midwest. So, did you decide to go ahead with the interview and the K1 process after all?

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Aztec&Taino--I know!! I'm from PA but I've been in south florida for about 7 years now and I can't go anywhere else..can't be the cultural diversity and heat! I did...went w/my heart and soul on this one. I was about to end it all....

Paul & Rain--aww cool..im in Hollywood...we should definitely do a meetup down the road.

I'm in West Palm Beach. I am in the early stages of the K1 process as I filed on April 1st. Got my NOA1 and waiting for NOA2. My fiance is from Cuba, a town about six hours east of Havana called Sagua La Grande. This is so hard for me. I miss him so. Things I used to find joy in are not the same. And lets not talk about my phone bill, arrrggghhh.

Wanda&Amel: Oh cool! not too far away. good luck on NOA2. mine was fast. are you cuban too? I know the feeling...we've been waiting a year and its soooooo hard and agonizing. my phone bill got so bad i had to voluntarily cut off the long distance so i wldn't be tempted and started using pingo and rebtel and skype so i could better manage...South Florida is a really good place for our Caribbean men to adapt because it's still kinda "like home"....I have my summer off of work so i'm really going to enjoy spending the time with him...if all goes well and we're approved he should be heading here the end of June and i will be celebrating!

I'm in Coral Springs, and filed Feb 2nd. Still waiting without stress. I go see the misses 1-2 times a month so the wait is not so bad.

wow KevinandJuana! we are neighbors lol how did you guys meet? do you guys have kiddies? I filed about a month before you....they expedited mine and i still don't understand how i got bumped ahead but i won't complain...we should stay in touch because our SOs will be adjusting to our South Floridian life!! (haha like its hard)

We met in a hospital. I was sick and she was the doctor that helped get me better so i could enjoy the rest of the trip. No kids now, however we have plans of having 2 after she settles in and finishes her residency here. We should most definitely keep in touch to make our SO's transition to our beautiful city go smooth.

that's so cool that she's a doc! Yeah we each have one and plan to have at least one more together but no rush there...maybe in a year or so. we wanna have some FUN first :whistle: lol...oh most definitely! you know, they say when you are married you need to hang out with other married couples as opposed to hanging with single people :rofl:
