Made an infopass appointment

My husband and I made an infopass appointment to see an immigration officer. The appointment is 2 weeks away and if we hear something before that we'll just cancel it. Wonder what is taking so long. I am so frustrated now. Why does initial review take so long? I sometimes feel like they lost my file.:(:(

Will I be able to get details on my case beyond what is seen online? Please advice. Thanks.

If you fill out your timeline, we might be able to give that advise.

Will do that later. Filed for ROC on 19th nov 2010 @ at the VSC. It's been a little over five months but do not have any updates, touches etc. So worried. :(

It looks like you are not the only one: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/280752-i-751-november-2010-filers/page__view__findpost__p__4623174

The infopass might be enough to rattle some cages and get things moving.

Good luck. I wish I could tell you more, but it looks like things are moving again as of last week.

We filed ours on October 1 and got the green cards in the mail end of March. Almost 6 months. I wouldn't worry. Provided he had biometrics already.

They will not tell you anything at the infopass appointment that you do not already know.

Thanks. Could they just send me back w/ o any new information just because I'd still be 2 weeks away from my 6 month mark?

Yes. They will. Nothing happens at the 6 month mark either.

Maybe I do not understand the concern? He has a green card, it was extended for 1 year when you filed the RoC. What is the problem? I never even checked the website and would never waste my time with an infopass. For what? If they tell you it will be approved in 3 days or 3 more months...what difference does it make?

Relax, enjoy, all is well.

Gelato... we are in a very similar situation. I also have concerns. Through all my time roaming through this website, Gary is THE ONE person who's immigration advice is unimpeachable. Just my two cents...

I am not a very patient person. That is the difference it makes. This wait is killing me. I wish USCIS was good at updating case Status online. Too bad they don't.

Thank you to the member for the compliment but there are many other knowledgable members here also.

As for being patient...patient for what? Nothing changes. wth the K-1 it is the time which the person can arrive and you can be together, with the AOS it is the time the person can work, and other benefits of being a resident. RoC is nothing really, nothing changes, there are no additional benefits, it is just a renewal of a green card. And you have to pay for 10 years and then file for citizenship after one year

Now I will admit that I AM a patient person but this procedure is one of those "non-issues" as far as I am concerned. He can even travel internationally with his expired green card and the NOA1 letter extending it for 1 year. Seriously I sent the forms and never checked it again. The green cards just arrived one day. I never gave it anohter thought except for the biometrics.
