Yeah, Yeah Truth we have heard all that before

but even the casual observer notes the bar for the use of "hate crimes" charges seems a lot higher for some groups, than others.

BUt I predict this white person will get the protection of the "hate crimes" statute ....regardless of her being white..... in fact it appears she is part of a much more protected class of social victim.

NEWS FLASH

SOmeone earlier suggested the victim might not even be a women and reports are now rolling in that it is in fact, a man.

<<<<The police report identifies the victim as 22-year-old Chrissy Lee Polis, who appears identical to Christopher Lee Polis, whose rap sheet includes convictions for disorderly conduct, property destruction, and prostitution, according to court records. The civil rights group Equality Maryland has identified the McDonald’s victim as a transgender woman.

Polis told police that she was walking to the restaurant’s bathroom when she “got into a verbal argument with two black females” who “began punching her in the face with their fists and pulling her hair.” >>>>

Mr. Hacket, the lowlife who filmed the event and encouraged the attackers to "get the ** up out out of here before the police come". says this.

<<<As seen above, in a Facebook posting, Hackett contended that the woman seen getting beaten in the video was actually a man "dressed lik a woman" who got into a confrontation with female patrons when he refused to leave the women’s bathroom at the Baltimore-area eatery. Hackett claimed that the victim faked a seizure and, when cops arrived at the restaurant, “he got right up.”

In other Facebook messages sent Friday by Hackett (see below), he acknowledged filming the fight, denied the victim was transgendered, and claimed he had “No Hate For Anybody…No Matter Tha Gender/Race Or Sexual Preference.” Hackett exchanged messages with Facebook users who wrote him to express anger about the video and his gleeful play-by-play.>>>

SO now it would seem, the Victim who most assumed was just another voiceless person left beaten .... now has a huge lobby to put pressure on her behalf for meaningful prosecution.

This is what kills me about 'hate crime' status...why would it matter what the motivation was, the beating was just as brutal. And in order to do this to another human being, one has to have hate in one's heart.

I loathe this 'special status' that is the hate crime label. Judge the sentencing on the brutality of the crime itself, not what was said.

Cos let's face it - if that's how we judge a hate crime...let's say a person hates gays. Attacks a gay man, but doesn't say anything. Does that mean it can't be proven as a hate crime? Could the assailant then say 'oh we fought over something else' and that's it? That's a pretty easy way to evade this hate crime escalation. Conversely, if two men get into a fight and one of them happens to be gay, but it's not relevant to the true reason they got in a fight, would that make it a hate crime just because the victim was gay?

Looking at that vid, I don't care what the reasons were...that is barbaric, and should be punished to the fullest extent possible

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

She is not a man - she is a woman. She is transgender, which does not take away from the fact that she is a woman. I don't know enough about this incidence to say whether it was a hate crime, but I do know that many hate crimes against transgender people take place in bathrooms or after exiting bathrooms because some people feel the need to police other people's genders. I have mixed feelings about hate crime legislation, but I understand the reasons behind it - if that was the motivation behind this attack, it creates an environment where transgender people (especially women) live in a state of fear to even use a restroom in a public place. If it was just a couple thugs targeting a random woman, it does not create the same community-wide sense of fear. Regardless, anyone who beats the ####### out of a woman (or anyone) belongs in jail for a long time.

It is not OK to beat someone if they are transgender. We need more good people with guns, obviously. when these kinds of incidents result in the immediate death of the perpetrators...they will stop. Funny how if we do not have our own gun, we call someone to bring one. That is why I carry my own.

So the best result would have been for another customer to pull out a gun and kill the 2 perpetrators?

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

If that started happening the crime rate would drop imo. If someone thinks they might get killed if they beat someone chances are they are going to think twice.
