POE and clothes

Hi everyone, well me and my wife will be leaving the Philippines for Utah on June 4! But I have a question about what can be brought through our POE (our POE is salt lake city international airport)

As you all know, tiangge is a common thing here. And they more often than not sell counterfeit clothing. My concern is that a lot of the jeans my wife has were bought from the tiangge (greenhills tiangge to be exact). I was wondering if we were going to have any problems with those jeans if they decided to check our luggage? I believe her jeans say they are either 'guess' or 'levi'. Is there anyway they can tell if it's counterfeit or not? I'd hate to get this close and then all of a sudden have something happen at the POE.

Im not really sure what your concern is? but your fiance should be fine your worrying over nothing

I doubt that they are going to look at your jeans. If you bring a dozen unwarn jeans than that migth be a problem if they take a look at your luggage cause than that seems like you are bringing it over to sell. If you are just bringing your own clothes than real or counterfeit I don't think it makes a difference.

so if it's for our own personal, and not for selling, then we'll be okay? I think she has 5 or 6 pairs of the counterfeit jeans. i don't know why we feel so paranoid about this, ha ha.

do not bring more than 5 i guess, customs are very strict. just to be safe...

my fiance got a problem last january of bringing pacquiao shirts from greenhills... he has 10 shirts for pasalubong and not for selling... but since its from the philippines, they doubt it of course...

It would be best if your wife wouldn't bring counterfeit clothes, And She better not carry a counterfeit bag. I have a friend who tried bringing a counterfeit carry on bag, customs checked her bag and She don't know how they figured out that it was counterfeit because it was a "Class A Replica". She had to take all her little stuff on that bag and left the bag on the customs counter. She just said that she didn't know it was counterfeit.

After getting my visa, I will be flying from Philippines to SLC and my in-laws there are asking for knock off bags. I am curious on how your trip goes.

Anyway, where in Utah?

My wife loads up on clothes, purses, watches, etc when we go to PI. Never had a problem coming thru customs.

Just tell them it's for personal use

Best solution. You can always load up a box full of purses and send them via Philippines Post Office to your place in USA.

It will take about 14 days and run about $200............

Thanks for your advice but I will not spend $200 just to send some counterfeit bags to bring home for my new family. I am not buying tons, I am only buying few and was really curious on how will it be upon reaching POE which is SLC since I'll be coming from the same route...

I came to the US using my K1 visa September last year (Salt Lake City POE). I did bring with me some Pasalubong like counterfit clothes and slippers and a few pairs of Jeans for myself not more than 5 pairs each and I did not get any trouble. Just make sure don't bring to much.
