One way or round trip airline ticket for a K-1 Visa holder?

I'm getting ready to buy the plane tickets from Bangkok to the US. In our case, a one way ticket is cheaper than round trip. So, I would like to way the one way ticket, but I am not sure if we are required to have a two way ticket with the K-1 visa. Does anyone know?

K-1 TIMELINE11/03/2010 Mailed I-129F Petition to USCIS VSC
11/15/2010 Received NOA1 in the mail
02/04/2011 Requested expediting of case for military deployment
02/11/2011 Expediting request approved
02/22/2011 Received expediting request approval letter in the mail
02/28/2011 NOA2 Document Received in the mail
02/28/2011 NVC received and case # assigned
03/01/2011 Case sent to Embassy
03/04/2011 Case received at the Embassy
03/09/2011 Embassy sent Packet 3 via mail (we did not wait for it, downloaded forms online)

We did one way on Thai Airways. The lady at the ticket office tried to tell us we needed a RT, but I spoke with the manager and explained my wife was moving to the US, thus did not require a RT ticket.

02/12/2007 - I-130 and I-129F approved!

04/17/2007 - Interview - visa approved!

04/18/2007 - POE LAX - Finally in the USA!!!

04/19/2007 - WE ARE FINALLY HOME!!!

09/20/2007 - Sent Packet 3 for K-4 Visas (follow to join for children)

10/02/2007 - K-4 Interviews - approved

10/12/2007 - Everyone back to USA!

Buy the cheapest ticket. If it's R/T, just cancel the return leg after things are settled in the US.

Thanks. The only reason why I asked is because Thai Airways were telling us that we HAD to buy a round trip (it was much more expensive that a one way). I finally called Delta and got it even cheaper than Thai Airways. Thanks again!:thumbs:

You are not required to have a round trip ticket. I used one-ways for Alla and Pasha because it was cheaper at the time. The only problems I ever heard of regarded an AOS being denied because the applicant HAD a round trip ticket (which he did not use) and they had to file to reopen the case and "prove" he did not return. That is very rare also.
