I'm less than two months into this whole process, so I'm hoping my fiancée will be joining me here by October or so. I'm still kicking around some ideas about how to schedule my trip to Tashkent for the engagement party, the return trip with fiancée in tow, the wedding, honeymoon, etc. I'm doing most of this on about two weeks of vacation.

One possibility would be stopping off in Europe for a few days and getting married in some absurdly romantic place in Italy. (The flight is long as hell and will likely involve a long layover anyway.) There are a couple of big red flags in that little statement. 1) Would the wedding be recognized in the U.S., for our purposes? I know you shouldn't get married before you get the K-1 visa, but what about right after, before you get to the U.S.? 2) I don't need a visa for the EU, but she does. Worth the extra headache after all of this K-1 stuff?

I'm leaning toward keeping it simple and just getting back to the U.S. as quickly as possible, but a big part of me wants the European thing, too. Anyway done anything similar?

No because you must be married in the USA. You will not be able to AOS from the K-1 if you marry in another country.

Don't mess it up after all this waiting and money spent, just do as you are supposed to and marry in the USA with the K-1.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. Europe next year, maybe. Thanks.

Someone got rejected because they foundout they had a religious ceremony in Indian, so be careful with any plans....Maybe you should just wait until after the interview..

Yeah, I read that post about the guy in India. I was hoping there might be some way to go about getting married on the way home, since you've already jumped through all of their hoops at that point, but I really need to stop hoping for common sense exceptions to the draconian rules for this process. Good luck.
