When they start cutting the heads off museum staff let me know .. Until then it's just a bunch of crack pots .. Who I don't agree with.. But to call a Crucifix submerged in urine Art ???? is just as sick..

No, it's not 'just as sick'. Destroying property that belongs to someone else is vandalism, whether you like the property being destroyed or not. Calling that object art is just an opinion, an opinion that can't be created or destroyed by destroying the object itself.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Agreed ... But most reasonable people of any faith would still call it Sick not Art .. But then not many reasonable exists anymore .. Now back to work.. Back to play later

So yeah. As a devout Catholic and someone who appreciates art, IMHO "Piss Christ" is no more deserving of the title of art than most of Serrano's other works. BUT, I don't think vandalizing his work is appropriate. If it offends a person, then they shouldn't pay to go see it. I think artwork like "Blue Canvas" or "Art Meant to Be Stepped On" (or whatever they're called) are also undeserving of the title "art," but I wouldn't vandalize them (though I did laugh when I saw the last one on display in the SAM -- Sorry, Yoko).

If I take personal offense at some crackpot making "art" like Serrano, then I must not have a very strong faith. Or rather, I can take personal offense if I chose to, but to act upon that offense makes me less than the person by whom I have been offended...

Are you so introspective that nothing could prompt you to act out?

For instance, you and your mother or daughter are in the park and some teenage punk begins repeatedly insulting and taunting your mother or daughter.....in the most vile way,

do you

a. intellectually recognize their right to free speech and self expression or

b. Slap them down?

Some insult "beg" a response....why disappoint?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."
