US Wife is a student...problem?

Hi, I am a UK citizen and will be marrying my USC fiancee this Summer. The plan will then be to go through the CR-1 process as soon as possible after this. Now, my fiancee is a student in the US and will be for the next couple of years and during the application process she is going to be studying abroad in Spain for a year. This leads to my worry. Her grandpa has said that he will act as a co sponsor and he earns enough money for all of us, but my fiancee will have spent almost a year abroad and won't have a job back home. Is this likely to pose a problem in terms of domicile or for the Affadavit of support???

Any advice would be great

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: Ireland
Timeline

As long as you have a well qualified co-sponsor, no worries there.

The US citizen needs to be in the USA already or immigrate at the same time as the foreign beneficiary, so just time your visa so that she will be finished with her year in Spain by the time you use it. If you start applying shortly after she starts studying in Spain, you should have your interview a month or two before she is finished- you then have 6 months to use the visa, so can travel back to the USA together.
