Hi. From many things I have read on VJ it means they're doing more background checks. And possibly ask around town about the person in their personal life and work. Good Luck To You :)

Hang in there. You are one of the lucky ones to be applying from a country where most of the 9/11 hijackers obtained their visas.

It is not unusual for a person from a middle eastern country, especially male, to have to undergo intensive checks prior to the issuance of the visa. It will end eventually but no one can say when.

Hi, I'm sorry your going through this. From what I have read here on VJ, AP can be from 1 - 6 months. I hope things will go faster and that you will soon be with your love (F)

thank you ,, i really hope this will done soon and very soon ,, thank you all for supporting .... please pray for me ....

Marhaba,

I wish someone can say how long these APs last. But no one can give you an exact date. Yet it seems males who are waiting for visas are put on AP more often. My fiance is from Nigeria and he has been on AP 5 months now. We don't know when that would end.

I will keep you in my prayers and may God be with you in your journey and may it all come to a prosperous end.

DOS is the most accurate, the embassy might just tell you something nice just to stop you from bugging them for a while, Good Luck to you.

Find a job you love to do, and you will never work another day in your life.

DOS provides the correct information. Hang in there this too shall pass. Our AP lasted 5 1/2 months. I found out we were done with AP through DOS first and then a week later received a letter from the Embassy.

AP has been anywhere from 2 months to a year...no one can say when it would be over. But after few months it is a good idea to contact the congressman/woman of the petitioner's city. We did and our congressman sent an official letter to the embassy and within two days, I called DOS and they said we were out of AP. So go figure?

God willing, you will get the wonderful news you are waiting for soon. Take care and best of luck!

thank you all for supporting me .... in my case i really wish that the embassy know more than DOS and that guy in the embassy was telling me the truth .. pray for me that they call me next week ..

good luck everyone

DOS = Department of State

Embassy Employees = DOS Employees

What you are saying is not making much sense. Local Embassy that has your case in hand will know more about the case than DOS Hotline.
