Here is my interview experience in Baltimore, MD yesterday. M

My interview was scheduled for 8:40am. Got to the building around 8am to find a HUGE line of people outside waiting to get into the building (go through the metal detectors etc.). Finally, after 20 min in line I got to the interview room at 8:20 am, gave my interview notice at the window and was told to wait until my name is called. I was called at 8:30 am, 10 minutes before my actual appointment time. The IO was serious but very polite. He made me swear to tell the truth and got out my file. I was asked to give him my passport, green card and Social Security card (he used it to compare the number to the one he had in my file). He looked through my file and without a warning started asking me the civic questions.

1. When was the Declaration of Independence adopted?

2. Who is the Speaker of the House now?

3. Name one of the longest rivers in the United States

4. Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived?

5. What do we call the first 10 amendments to the Constitution?

6. We elect the president for how many years?

After that he asked me to read "Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves" and I was asked to write " Abraham Lincoln led the United States during the Civil War".

After the civics test he went through my application point by point. I was not asked to show any of the original documents I brought with me. At the end of the interview he gave me a paper that said that I passed the civics test and that the application is being recommended for approval. He then asked if I wanted to take the oath later today.

I went back at 2:45 pm, took the oath together with 76 other people and now am a proud United States citizen!

Good luck to everyone here!

A little late but congrats for your citizenship! I have my interview next week in Baltimore as well, I was wondering if you changed your name and still had the oath ceremony the same day as you interview. And I've heard you can apply for passport in some places after your oath ceremony, do you know if is possible in the Baltimore office? Thanks for sharing your experience and good luck to everyone! :)
