For me: Life is a trust - therefore, secondly, life is a test, because, thirdly, we're just passing through -- This is a temporary assignment on earth. He sounds like someone that has real doubts about his atheism. He is trying to get others to justify his lack of faith by agreeing with him. Most atheists are content to live and let live. I don't go posting religious stories to convince others to believe as I do. Why else would he go out of his way to make fun of people of faith unles he were having doubts? At any rate, to be doing this during Holy Week shows a real lack of class.

Seriously 186,000 miles a second for 8.5 minutes (to sun 93 million miles out) is IMPOSSIBLE to grasp.

And we are talking seconds and minutes here.

We can only comprehend maybe 100 years of time (without speed). Try 100,000 years .....500,000,000 years (that is nothing) ....You can travel for billions and billions and hundreds of

millions and a couple billion more (6.5 billion years total) and still not even be halfway the distance to the furthest galaxy because it is 13.3 billion years out at 186,000 miles every waking second

for that time.

We would be crying if we had to take a 2-day plane ride (I would be ready to pull my hair out at 5 hours)...

With my understanding of the size of the universe (I don't) the only thing that would ever convince me that any supernatural beings passed from humans down to humans called God is if he appeared before me (and witnesses to make sure I wasn't hallucinating) and did miracles and talked.

The day that happens is the day pigs fly.

We are too large a universe for God to have chosen us a couple thousand years ago....The planet is 4.5 BILLION years old for "Christ's sake"!!! And humans have been around for 400,000 years approx.

Let's recap:

A planet so small that you can actually ride a plane around it in less than 3 days.

A planet 4.5 billion years old

Humans around for 400,000 years

1.3 million of our earths = 1 sun

500 billion stars in our galaxy

500 billion galaxies in universe (500,000,000,000 <<give or take a few hundred million of those things>>)

Some galaxies are so far it takes over 13 billion years to get to at the S.o.L.

RELIGION:

2,000 years old (in a universe 12 to 14 billion years old)

Founded on planet earth in the milky way galaxy (1 galaxy of 500 billion)

A book written by man back when "God talked" (why not now is a huge blow to religion because HE DID SUPPOSEDLY talk back then)

I would "buy" it (using dollars as years old) if I could walk up to a billionaire (universe worth 12 to 14 billion dollars) and hand him a book and $2,000 (bible / religion) and say listen to me and my book...I know you are worth 12 to 14 billion dollars and your size is magnitudes above my $2,000 but trust me on this one...I know you spend $2,000 each day or maybe each hour and sometimes whip out millions at a time but here, take my $2,000 and cherish it - it trumps your 12-14 billion because I say so...Guess what? The billionaire is not going to give me the time of day (AND HE SHOULDN'T!!!!)
