Where I live, there are large numbers of employed people who hang out and browse the Internet and go to meetings all day. No one has time for babies. Maybe if we could have one between meetings and leave it in our cubes/offices after work.

Where I live, there are large numbers of unemployed people who hang out all day, don't have computers (although they have smart phones - that's a right) and generally attend "meetings" all day long. Only difference is instead of them making products to sell or providing services in exchange for taxable income, we're all paying them to simply exist. Not only exist... but multiply.

It's not that I don't get the rational. I get it. People can learn in teams where peers help each other. Not saying it can't happen or doesn't work. What I've been typing here is BIG PICTURE things like this lead to an entitlement mentality for those on the receiving end of the "help." It's also quite discouraging for the helpers because instead of increasing their own knowledge, they're wasting their time helping folks who should be getting help from the teacher.

So awarded salaries aren't based on labor/ability?

And do you really think that's why there's a disparity in tax brackets? Think about it this way... if EVERYONE had to pay a flat tax (or at least a fair tax) the folks at the bottom couldn't, and the folks at the top would be paying so little the government would have to all but shutdown. No wonder the government is against it!

Its already been mentioned that its never a waste of time. The best way to retain knowledge is to help others learn the material. I know this first hand.

This has nothing to do with entitlements... a more honest comparison would be a student who just bails on studying and hopes the teacher will push him along with a D because he did no work.
