Hello everyone! :)

I'm currently on a K1 process, and it happened to me to talk with people about my degree and what kind of value it will have once I'm in the US.

I have a bachelor degree (3 years) in Architecture, and what is for the US a "Master degree" (in Italy it's just called "Specialization") in Preservation and Restoration of Architecture.

Now, I've been researching about the topic, and seems to me like "Preservation and Restoration of Architecture" is more like something made by "No-profit foundations" more than an actual job (even though I don't know exactly how these foundations work).

Of course when I began my university courses, I had no idea I was going to move and start a life in the US, I thought that living in Venice, the best thing was getting a degree in Restoration but now....what?! O_o'

I also have another question: what is the difference between just having a degree in Architecture and having an Architect license (of course for Italy) once I move to the US?

I know it's a bit of a specific question but I thought it was worth trying! Thank you in advance!

Not an easy line of work to get into.

To be an Architect specialising in Historic Buildings you will need to be a PE.

In Colorado we have the State Historical Fund, Colorado Preservation Inc etc etc, but money is tight.

Remember each State goes their own way, building regulations can come down to the individual town.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
