It doesn't have to be transcripts. It's Either / Or. Meaning, you can use transcripts -OR- copies of the 1040 + itemizations (if applicable) + W-2 (and/or other income statements) used for taxes. In simple terms:... copies of all the papers sent to IRS for 2010 taxes.

:bonk: (Sorry... but you needed that). ALWAYS make copies of everything... EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! You should have sent in the copies and saved the originals. All originals can be verified on interview date.

Generally, yes... on interview date, he's supposed to have the originals (for inspection / verification by consulate officer); and a copy to submit. BUT, now you've already sent off the originals. That's very risky... if you consider it's going through various hands for delivery, and the huge number of cases NVC is handling.

Nevertheless, don't panic, at some point with your calls to NVC, you need to verify with the NVC operator that the docs have been received. Many times, on interview date, some things on the checklist are not looked at or asked for. HOWEVER, you are required to have them with you, because the consulate officer can ask to see and inspect anything and everything that's on the interview checklist.

It's not the end of the world. If it comes up on interview date, your husband will have to simply explain what happened. Hopefully, all the docs, like most of the paperwork in most cases, will make it to the embassy without any mishandling. There's not much you can do now, except to submit another request for transcripts to the IRS. But, it seems you've done that already. Perhaps, just try it again.

Otherwise, jus follow up with NVC and verify specifically that they received the papers. You can also document your request (and the answer from NVC) by emailing your inquiry to:

NVCInquiry@state.gov

The percentage is high that (barring any other issues) this specific matter won't hold things up. MOST IMPORTANT IS... make duplicate copies of EVERYTHING you do regarding the visa process. No matter how important or meaningless it may be... Have a back-up of EVERYTHING. Remember, there's a lot of incompetence out there... always be prepared.

I believe everything will be okay.

Best of Luck,
