My mom filed a petition on my uncle (her biological brother) and wife to come to the States many years ago. Now its being realized. Now they are in the process of completing the form DS-230 which requires the following documents:

1)2 passport size picture.

3)birth certificate (all original from:

a) local civil registrar (LCR)

b) national Statistics Office (NSO).

4) a photocopy of their passport (front and description)

5) National Buerau of Investigation (NBI clearance).

6) police clearance.

My mom is asking how much funds she should send to my uncle and aunt to gather the above and any other not mentioned documentation?

Aloha.

hello there, i've been through the process already, every beneficiary will have to pass in that stage where getting civil documents are required. You wont spend a thousand dollars for these. If you are referring to the cost in order to have all these, i'll give you rough estimate.

1)2 passport size picture. - normally a studio will take 6pcs passport size for 65.00 only, so multiply it by two, let's say Php 150.00

3)birth certificate (all original from:

) local civil registrar (LCR) ---> registrar office doesn't charge much, like 50.00 each copy, why would u need LCR birth certificate, it's not honored in NVC, only certificates from NSO.

b) national Statistics Office (NSO)-----> this one is around 160.00 each copy if they do walk-in at the NSO office, if ordered online, that's another story.

4) a photocopy of their passport (front and description)-- nah, just say Php10.00

5) National Buerau of Investigation (NBI clearance).----->this one is Php 115.00 each copy (fixed price)

6) police clearance.----> depends on the municipality, they charge but not more than Php.200.00 each copy.

That's a rough estimation just to give you an idea how much these papers cost. They're not expensive, the only thing that makes it expensive is the fare and food and the effort of waiting in line.

In addition, if they dont have passports yet, that's around Php 1200.00 each passport processing.

FedEx delivery, that's around Php 1500.00 minimum per package, also it depends from what city it's gona come from.

All the amount I have mentioned, it's in pesos. By the way, exchange rate now is very low. And I am guessing, $150.00 will be sufficient enough for all these documents including fare, food and other expense during the gathering process.
