That has to be the lamest cliche liberals perpetually and habitually tosses out to justify illegal immigration. As if 18th and 19th century American Indian policy in a frontier nation has anything remotely to do with 21st century immigration policy in a mature modern industrialized welfare state that America has become.

It's just more of the same self destructive guilt trips and misplaced atonement mentality the Left is famous for. As if ignoring illegal immigration is some atonement.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

So you do support open boarders.

He won't ever give you a straight answer on that, but if ever go back through his history of posts on the subject of illegal immigration...the answer to that question is obvious.

Peejay, you can stop lying. You and everyone on this board who tries to portray liberals on here as pro-illegal immigration are liars.

I'm guessing that many of you live in are area where there is some type of illegal immigrant presence, be it large or small. What do you know about it- how they get jobs, register cars and insure them, make their way into and thru the immigration process etc. Some came on a legal visa and overstayed even though working was supposedly prohibited. Others came across the border, some on their own along with many who used the services of a coyote.

Do you know or have you heard of any who married a US citizen just to get papers, paying the US citizen for services rendered?

Discuss.

A former relative actually has several illegal immigrants working for him... He goes to a local check cashing store and writes them a check every week. The check cashing store is named something that will make the check look like a regular business expense. He writes off the $ paid to the check cashing svc. and then he pays the workers in cash... Now let me say.. he is such a douche bag... that he charges the workers a check cashing fee for the cash he gives them under the table each week... only a portion of his employees are documented in the employment system as actual employees... he is screwed every time one of the undocumented ones gets hurt on the job...

They drive without a drivers license and buy cars cash from people on craigslist etc. and have someone with real documents register the vehicle in thier name rather than the name of the illegal.... 6 guys go to work together each day so there is little need for a bunch of vehicles.. They all chip in on the monthly expenses.. ins. etc.. and many of them share homes/apartments/trailers together... thus reducing expenses again..

There have been many here on VJ that have mentioned that they married an illegal immigrant...

To clarify, I use the term illegal immigrant to describe someone who entered the US through a proccess other than the normal legal path requiring inspection at the border.... as well as those that came here under the pretense of temporary stay and have overstayed disregarding the legal proccess that would allow them to stay with proper documentation or become a US citizen..

I know in the north illegal Mexicans get hired by companies and they pay them half what they would pay to a legal immigrant, so i think this is encouraging for them to stay illegal, I've always asked my wife how did they get all the way up from Mexico to Michigan or Wisconsin to work, almost look like the companies themselves helped them cross the border illegally.

Find a job you love to do, and you will never work another day in your life.

Only the ones that quite blatantly are. Many of the others who want to seal the border and shoot those who try to cross (the southern border) outside of the proper channels are swayed by right wing rhetoric into emotional and simplistic responses to a complex problem. Of course it's right and proper that there is a legal process to immigrate and of course it's right and proper that people use that process correctly but as we know many people do not even understand the process so often those who are here without correct documentation don't even know that they have done something wrong. That doesn't make what they have done right, but it does make it right that there is a process that allows for people who have done the wrong thing to immigrate legally and not be labeled criminals once they become informed.

I immigrated the 'right' way, but it was partly chance that I did so and quite frankly I wouldn't feel sorry or ashamed or stupid had I done it the wrong way without meaning to. Of course, if we want to point fingers and judge, should we start with the guys who import 'child' brides from uneducated backgrounds because they dont want another feminazi US wife? Or perhaps the lonely heart US women who naively import young men who sweet talk them into believing it's all about love? Or perhaps we should target those lonely tossers who can only find love over the internet, perhaps they shouldn't be allowed to bring in a partner until they have exhausted all other options from within the US? Or those who come to the US on a student visa and 'fall in love' and don't go home?

Many of the best solutions to the problem of having people enter the US without proper documents or overstay could be found without all the screaming and shouting and finger pointing. What does a thread like this achieve? People have a good laugh at how stupid 'illegals' are? Fantastic and then what? It feels very wrong to have such a thread on a website dedicated to helping people immigrate, people from all circumstances, not just those who did things the 'right' way.

The point of this thread is to discuss what you know about the illegal immigrant community in your area, not to debate politics, etc. If you don't know or pretend it doesn't exist, just say so. To everyone else, please share your knowledge.

lol Spooky, you pulling a Vanessa move here? Ironic considering you were called out for that same reason not too long ago.

I agree. I just hope one day that he grows the balls to come out and admit it.

It depends on the context of the conversation and the comments made. Sometimes it is racist, sometimes not.

maybe you misunderstood my question. i asked 'so how do you feel about everyone here that tries to portray the anti illegal immiration crowd as racist xenophobes'

not 'how do you feel about the posters that get labeled as racist xenophobes'

 thats where i stopped reading & now call BS.

do you honestly think people are paying coyotes or people at shipping ports to help them bypass immigration officers, obtain fake ids, and find paid 'under the table' employment do not know they are doing something wrong?
