“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Additional posts have been removed after further complaints - sorry about the photo, guys - but as lovely as I'm sure you found it, it was showing a little 'too much' and has been removed along with the posts quoting it.

I figured as much, hence the reason I saved it to my h/d right after Steven posted it. :)

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

The reason I'm so hard on you Steven is because you are disingenuous and tend to omit a lot of facts and details when you make your assertions. How about compromising with thieves and other lawbreakers? Why not let them keep only 1/2 of their ill gotten gains? Is that how we deter illegal activity? We concede and compromise?

I can concede and compromise. No need to mass deport. Just freeze them out of the economy by denying them work and non life threatening social services. ** giving them legal work authorization and citizenship (rewards) for their arrogant disregard of numerous laws. There is a limit to concede and compromise and that limit is no amnesty, no legal work authorization, no legal residency, and no citizenship. These people are not our responsibility. They never were. They are lawbreakers that must be dealt with and deterred. It is not our responsibility to compromise and concede with thieves that steal benefits they are not entitled to.

You don't deter thieves by rewarding them by letting them keep what they steal.

The problem with this thinking is Human migration is a force of nature and can not be harnessed. When the Tsunami hits you can stand on the beach and scream ugly names at it, but you are going to take a beating in the process. If you head to the hills you might have a strategy that can help you survive it. Immigration reform is the "conservative" economic strategy to dealing with a force of nature.

Crimigration of the Immigration process is like screaming on the beach. Why do you think DHS now encompasses USCIS? The big government conservatives want to profit off this natural disaster, but us taxpayers are going to take a severe beating in the process. The same people that clean up the Oil Spills and Hurricanes and Tornadoes now clean up the "people spills". Buy some stock in CCA.

Look at what we spend to deport less people than left on their own many years ago. We have created a situation where people are discouraged to leave, and if you don't believe that pop over to the I601 forum or go visit I2us.net. We have bad laws on the books. US Citizens families are being torn apart every day. What kind of government creates a law that splits a family that contains a US Citizens? Take the pregnant wife of a two time Gulf War Veteran out of her house at gunpoint and shoot her over the border on a bus while she is carrying a US Citizen and a US Citizens child... are you frigging kidding me?

We screw up the economy in Mexico so we can build the second wave of the Prison Industrial Complex, and we lose our national soul in the process. We don't need to make America a police state. Migrants move where it is safe and they can sustain themselves our constitution was written to protect everyone who is here legal and undocumented. We hold these truths to be self evident.

 Citizenship should not be an accident of birth. People should be free to migrate where they want to.

This is not in the political forum? My bad.

What is the point of 'discussing' the illegal immigrant community in your area exactly? I know there are bound to be those present within my community who don't have proper papers but as they don't advertise who they are, I have no idea who they are and I am not going to poke my nose into places it has no business in trying to find out. Nor am I going to start worrying about every person who looks or talks funny and ponder their status and get mad about how high my taxes are and that it must all be down to pesky illegals.

A solution to the 'illegal immigrant' problem would be to grant a LOT more temporary work visas to those seeking agricultural and manual labour jobs in the US and simultaneously enforce minimum wage laws currently on the books. Most of those 'nasty' illegal immigrants who come to the US to find a 'better life' are not here because they want to live int he US, they end up living in the US because they come to make money working and choose to stay until they have made enough money working because traveling back and forth is not an option. Most would travel back and forth if they could. A proper work visa program would eliminate all that. Of course at that point those who bemoan the expense of illegal immigrants would bemoan the sudden hike in prices most notably in produce.

The most problematic illegal immigrants are the drug runners and that's another problem that is better addressed by tackling the source of the problem, drug use and drug laws than trying to prevent drug traffickers from crossing borders.

Mind you, being pragmatic isn't nearly so much fun as curtain twitching, now is it?

Your inability to remain on topic is likely some form of psychiatric disorder in which you are too distracted by the voices in your head to fully comprehend what it is that is being discussed. The Truth is that you have been a far greater mastur of baiting within this thread than posting anything substantive.

FWIW, 20 years ago I was offered 30K in cash for my US passport while in a not to be named south- Asian country. It was not a bargain I wanted any part in. Used to happen a lot from what I was told, not so sure if it still does or not.

See, it is really not so difficult to remain on topic!

Clearly anything I post would be evidence for such a screwy theory seeing as you managed to come up with it without any. However, I think that's quite enough indulgence in personal attacks, don't you?
