Help for late i-751 filling

Hello Everyone!

Me and my daughter got conditioned residence and we did everything together two years ago, my husband (who is US Citizen) was the petitioner. For some reason, our green cards had a different expiration date. My daughter's 4/8/11 and mine 7/8/11. I went to my local USCIS office in January to ask if I should file my daughter's i-751 at that time. I was told by the officer that I could file for both of us when it is time for me, especially since my daughter was a minor. Well, the time has come and now I was told I should have filled for my daughter back in January and that I need to attach an excuse letter for late filling.

Could somebody give me an idea what to put on this letter? I know that I have to put the facts and why I didn't do it when I was supposed to, what I don't know is the words I should use to explain that.

I will really appreciate if somebody can help me to figure this out.

Gabby

Filed: Other Timeline

You tell them the truth: that you inquired with USCIS and got told by an immigration officer that you should renew your Cards together. (I hope you wrote down the date/time and name of the immigration officer). Luckily, you are less than 2 weeks late, so I think they will accept your daughter's late filed I-751 without much fuss.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
