DS230 question

I have received the IV Fee Bill yesterday and the instructions say "not to use the downloaded computer form" for the the DS-230, but to use what is sent by NVC. I was planning to use the instructions in James' Shortcuts and send the self-generated forms. Any one has any comments or experience on this? Please advise.

Is the above instruction something new or has this always been there? Can we still use self-generated forms?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use the downloaded DS 230 forms. Many took this route and it went fine. However, do not send it to NVC until they generate DS 230 packet.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Thanks, simple_male! Can someone please confirm that their instructions did say the same. I am referring to instructions that came with the IV Fee Bill. I want to make sure this is not something new.

Thanks

Yes, the instructions do ask not to use the downloaded forms. I think, the reason for this, is if they allow the downloaded forms, then people can download outdated DS 230 from different websites. Many websites don't update the DS 230 forms. You can download the DS 230 from this website. Just go to "Gallery Downloads," then go to K-3 forms.

It isnt anything new and as simple_male states, using downloaded forms is ok  You just shouldn't send them in to NVC until they have been generated if you are using James Shortcuts.

Thank you both.

What about the I-864? The most current form says it "expires on 9/30/06". Is it OK for a December interview? I know NVC generated my I-864 form on 8/28, but I have not received it yet and I am not sure if I should wait and see what version they will send me. Any thoughts?

NVC sent me the old I-864, but I have read in this forum that they are sending out the new one now. You should receive your I-864 any day. You can wait and see what version you will get. But if you send them the new I-864 from USCIS website, it should be ok too. I completed the old one and yet they completed the

I-864 review two weeks before they reviewd the DS 230 packet.

Simple_male, Thanks! I received the I-864 packet today and they sent the version dated 1/15/06. On the top it says "expires on 9/30/06". That is the same as what I donwloaded and had ready. So, I was able to send it by Express Mail today. Thanks again!
