HPV Vaccination for Medical

The HPV requirement is now back on the list and I have serious reservations about it. Does anyone know if men need it for the K1 visa? It was on my list of requirements but not all of them are for everyone.

Hi, I see it on the vaccination instruction that was contained in Packet 3 from my embassy. Among them it says "HPV Virus'. I saw on older threats that they removed this as a requirement but I'm not sure if they brought it back because it seems they are requiring me to have it.

Thanks very much, I hope that's also the case still and with me. I hear a lot of recent controversy about the safety of that vaccination so I'd prefer to avoid it at the moment.

It's Dublin. They don't seem to have a list of the required vaccinations on their website but they include it in Packet 3.

The controversy is hokum spread by right-wingers who believe that fear of "death" should be a way to keep kids from having sex, and who think that removing that fear via a vaccine would result in young girls becoming promiscuous.

It's controversial because it's a "sex" vaccine. Nothing more.

Cases of HPV have declined by 56% in recent years because of the vaccine. That's a lot of potential lives saved.

I see. OK. Just curious, as I expected to see it only being recommended for girls at the moment, since that's all the UK routinely offers that vaccine to as far as I'm aware.

The vaccine is as safe as many other. I wish they would routinely offer it to adult women too. Hooray for cervical cancer reduction! (HPV is the number one cause of that sort of cancer)

Are you sure it's required? The CDC website, linked from the DOS with regard to adjusting status/immigrants, lists only the usual stuff and actually categorically states HPV isn't required.

No. It wasn't a requirement when I went to the medical 2 weeks ago, and since there is no information coming out of London that they've changed requirements, I would continue to go with the CDC guidelines.

I would like to get a look at whatever the Dublin embassy is sending out.

I'm glad you're trying to avoid it. The HPV vaccine is a hoax just like the other vaccines.

I remember when I was living in the USA the HPV shot was only for people who were not sexually active, and were under a certain age. I don't know why they would require it. It does not fit the profile of most people who are moving to the USA.
