My fiance just got the call from the Embassy!! Wash. DC name checks done!!! AP COMPLETED!! VISA IS READY!!! Omg, we are dancing all over the place!!! :dance::dance::dance: Tons of prayers and positive thoughts have finally paid off!! Best of luck to the fellow VJ's still stuck in AP...we hope you all get great news soon as well!!

Summer 2007: Hubby and I met.

January 2008: Engaged.

May 22,2008: Hubby and I got married!

August 2008: I-130 filed.

January 2010: Our son was born.

May 2010: Interview at US Embassy in Barbados. Visa Denied! Eligible for I-601 waiver. Couldn't get a joint sponsor so we had to wait until 2011 when my income tax return documents would reflect my full income.

Feb22,2011: Embassy Received Tax Docs and New AOS!

Feb28,2011: I-601Waiver App Package sent to USCIS Santo Domingo via airmail.

Mar28,2011: USCIS Santo Domingo received Waiver Package.

Jun13,2011: Waiver Approved!

June24,2011:Embassy requested that medical police cert and other docs be updated and sent to schedule final interview for visa! *crosses fingers*

FINAL INTERVIEW SET FOR SEPT. 1ST @ 7:30AM

Thank you so much everyone! We feel very lucky that our AP at both the Embassy level and in Wash. DC went by quickly...it really is the unknown that makes this part of the process so difficult...but what an amazing patience we have all had to experience in order to be with those we love so much.

hi! what is AP?when this happen?

Hello,

AP stands for "administrative processing" or can also be called "administrative review". My understanding is it can happen at any stage of the visa process. Generally speaking, it means further information is needed (more background checks, more documentation,field contact,etc). There is no specific time of completion from what we have found in our research. Although anyone from any country can be placed in AP, some experience is more often than others. My fiance is from Jordan and experienced it at both the Embassy level (he was luckily approved in about 6 days). Shortly after his approval however, the Embassy explained they did not want him to have troubles at the airport when he entered the US (he has common Arabic 2nd name)so he went back in AP so they could do Name Checks through the Dept of State in Wash. DC. That AP lasted about 6 weeks. There are several people on VJ that have waited months and longer and some get cleared within days. It's the difficult thing about it...never really knowing when that will happen.
