how long from filing the i-130 till getting interviewed

hi everybody. my spouse now is studying in canada, and i want to apply cr1 for her. does anybody tell me how long it will take from filing the i 130 until interview. thanx

USCIS

2011/08/01:mailed i-130 to uscis ( petition for relative of permanent resident)

2011/08/05:receive hard copy noa1 (priority date 2011/08/02

2011/09/14:my husband became usc. and sent citizenship certificate to upgrade the petition

2011/11/03:receive hard copy of noa2 ( case category from f2a to cr1)

nvc

2011/11/28:receive case number started with guz

2011/11/28:called to nvc to assign my case to montreal, canada

2011/12/28:got new case number started with mtl

2011/12/29：completed ds 261 apply electronic processing

2012/01/03：optin acceptance email received

2012/01/04：IV bill invoiced and paid

2012/01/05:completed ds 260 sent i 864 documents to nvcelectronic

2012/01/11: sent joint sponsor financial documents and civil documents

2012/01/23：CASE COMPLETED @NVC.

2012/03/09:approved finally..

2012/03/12:received my visa.

timeline for IR5 APPLICATION.

2012/04/27: received NOA1 from uscis

2012/08/09;received NOA2 from uscis.

2012/09/07: received case number and ds 3032 from nvc..

2012／09／07： paid aos fee 2012／09／14： paid iv fee

2012/09/13:optin email sent

2012／09／21：optin received 。。 send aos and civil documents

2012／10／04：send current employment letters of sponsor to nvc

2012/10/18: received p4. interview date was assigned on 12/12/06.bless.....

Or it could take 12 months. I will be close to 12 months and I had ZERO RFE's and have been with my hubby for 12 years. Plan on the slower end of things.

07/06/10: Package Sent to Chicago Lockbox

07/07/10: Package Received

07/17/10: NOA1

07/26/10: Touched

11/03/10: Case Transferred to TSC

11/30/10: Touched! FINALLY

12/01/10: Touched, AGAIN!

12/02/10: Touched, YET AGAIN!

12/03/10: TOUCHED!

02/14/11:I-130 Approved Happy Valentines Day!

Case was approved in 212 days

NVC

02/18/11: Received NVC Case number

02/20/11: Optin email sent

02/22/11:Submitted DS-261 (Choice of Agent)

02/23/11: AOS invoiced and paid

02/25/11: AOS I-864 Emailed to NVC

03/02/11: IV Bill generated & Paid!

03/08/11: Optin Accepted

03/17/11: DS-260 completed

03/24/11: DS-260 Supporting Documents emailed

03/24/11: Emailed my I-864 AGAIN because NVC is saying they did not receive it.

04/08/11: NVC robot says they are "Awaiting my Biographic Data" which I assume means they reviewed my I-864

04/11/11: NVC is saying I am missing info, that I did not send in all my documents.

04.14.11: NVC is saying i never emailed anything. I contacted my senate office, who is getting things handled for me at NVC.

05.12.11: OMG SIF!

07.11.11-INTERVIEW DATE!

during this time can my spouse apply b2 visa？ i have heard that it is hard to get that？

for montreal, about 11 to 12 months, currently.

That could change, as well, once things get to NVC.

the last 18 months, yes -

comparing NVC EP for China - the main bit is after 'final review complete' - the interview is scheduled within 5 days, for 20 to 45 days out.

NVC EP for Canada, has more forms now, the DS-260 and one other - but - MONTREAL IS LAGGED, and has it's own 'self-schedule' portal.

The lag could disappear , eventually - but you've got 5 to 6 months of waiting on USCIS, regardless.

12 months? I thought it was about 8 according to the current timelines?

Currently yes, which does not include time for RFEs or lost (on their part) documentation. However, that could change, and it's best to allow for a full year to get through Montreal. (Y'know, hope for the best, prepare for the worst?)

is possible, but someone (you and your husband) have to do some stuff.

--I-130 submittal - clearly indicate in the cover letter that you want to be interviewed in Guangzhou

--Petitioner call in to get NVC # - he must ASK to have interview in GUZ IV, if it not already pegged to GUZ.

--DS-230 - beneficiary must indicate that the interview is to be at GUZ IV.

nothing is automatic, must check each step with 'that fed office' to ensure things were set properly, or must 'catch it' in the next step. it's doable, but a PITA.
