Hello,

I filed at CSC for a K1 towards the end of November and it's fast approaching five months. I am eagerly awaiting some news (NOA2, even an RFE just to let me know they care) and the wait is getting more exasperating everyday that I don't hear anything, especially because K1s seem to be getting processed in random order. Really missing my girl at this point. In the experience of others here, is it worth calling USCIS at all once the five-month mark hits?

Have you asked your congress[man/woman] to help you? I would start there, but know it also takes sometime for his/her staff member to get to your request. also did you read this excellent post K-1 petition information?

I keep reading thie following question / answer over and over again, and can't figure out what this really means:

So what about some people get approved ahead of others?

Sme petitions have problems or delays, we do not hold back others for this. If an adjudicator has problems, he puts that one aside or sends an RFE and goes on to the next. The next one may be clean and gets approved right away, in just a few minutes, they adjudicate 15-20 petitions a day per person, and the ones with problems may wait weeks for the petitioner to respond to the RFE, or maybe it is a name check they are waiting for. Petitions are assigned as they arrive, when we are working on those petitions, but they do not go out the door in the same order they came in.

Maybe the same employee got yours and my file, and went on vacation?

I think this is just saying what most of us know: We know very little about the process. And because it's human, each person does it there own way. I've given up trying to understand the process and figure I'm better off waiting until the 5 month mark and then start complaining. Trying to figure out why you haven't heard anything or why it's "not fair" that some come before yours will just drive you mad...

By the sounds of that they let you wait for months, look at your application, and then set it aside in another pile if they hit any kind of snag. There might be different processes for different countries or world regions too I guess. I think I would feel better if I at least had an RFE so that I could do something about it, but it is so true that none of us are immigration officers and we can't really know where a hold-up comes from. Friday will mark five-months for me, so I'll start calling second-tier officers and my congressperson at that point, but for the rest of this week I just got to focus on my work instead of sitting around with my fingers crossed hoping for that text message. Haha, it's such a difficult process, but there is nothing else to be done about it!
