Hi everyone :)

We are completing all the necessary documents for our interview. But I have few questions in filling out the I-134.

Question #1

If I'm a born citizen of USA, do I have to answer question 2 on the form? I just put my age and that I've resided in the USA since my DOB.

Question #2

For question 7, if I state that I have other personal property, lets say my car, valued at $2,000.00..do I have to show proof that my car is worth this much? Or can I just put a generalized amount of money for all of my current household possessions (furniture, car, etc) and not have to show proof of anything?

Question #3

What do I put for question 11?

I appreciate any reply and ideas from you

Thank you :)

Hi. It will benifit you best to provide all documents to support expenses that you are listing. The main thing they want is the amount of money you make & the tax information to back it up. I sent 4 yrs of tax info just to make sure they got the picture, but I don't think they request no more than 2-3 yrs. I didn't list the bills. I don't remember what #11 was...sorry. Hope that helps some.

well what i'm trying to ask is this...one of the questions on the I-134 says that "I have other personal property, the reasonable value of which is:"

lets say for example, I combine all of my furniture that I own, car, various items in my house...do I have to also send proof that I own these items? Or can I just throw a ballpark number of what I think my stuff is worth and that's that.

I don't want to give you misinformation, but I just put a ballpark number on mine and did not provide any receipts or proof for that. It was stressed that the important things to provide are proof of employment (letter from your your employer stating full/part time status, salary and start date), most recent tax return, most recent W2 and a letter from your bank(s) showing total money in all accounts. If you own stock or real estate or have other income, be sure to provide proof of that.

I think they are concerned about "other things" if you are near or below the poverty level. I also think they wouldn't be interested in furniture and such small things, but things that have more value, say property, house, car, etc.

For question, you put "N/A - K1 Fiancee Visa"

Good luck!

Hi everyone :)

We are completing all the necessary documents for our interview. But I have few questions in filling out the I-134.

Question #1

If I'm a born citizen of USA, do I have to answer question 2 on the form? I just put my age and that I've resided in the USA since my DOB.

Yes, you have to answer question number two. On the first part of the question you enter your age. On the second part of the question, you enter the date you were born.

Question #2

For question 7, if I state that I have other personal property, lets say my car, valued at $2,000.00..do I have to show proof that my car is worth this much? Or can I just put a generalized amount of money for all of my current household possessions (furniture, car, etc) and not have to show proof of anything?

It's not necessary to enter the value of your car or your household possessions. These are not considered assets by the Embassy. If your income is over 125% of the poverty line for your household size, you don't need to enter any assets whatsoever. If your income is below 125% of the poverty line for your household size, then you will need to enter assets such as cash in the bank, money market accounts, 401k's, real estate equity, etc. Of course, all assets must be documented.

Question #3

What do I put for question 11?

You need to tick the box which says "Intend." I have heard more than one report here on VJ where the consular officers at the U.S. Embassy Manila gave K-1ers a hard time about checking the "Do not intend" box. I checked the "Intend" box and wrote something like this: I intend to marry my fiancée and to support her with room, board, and her daily needs for the rest of our lives.

I appreciate any reply and ideas from you

Thank you :)

Best wishes. :star:

The problem with checking "INTEND" is that they then want a specific amount and duration of support. I guess you could put "as much as it takes, forever", but I think that is more for people who are hiring immigrants, not for spouses. In reality, I don't think it matters either way, by the time you get to that point in the process, it's pretty much assured that you will get what you want.
