I have a question about the K1- Visa...

My Fiance had all of his vaccinations when he was younger, his mother cannot find the papers for proof. We aren't sure on what to do about this problem. I know you're required to have proof of prior vaccination shots... So what now??

I told him he needs to go to a local clinic months before the medical exam and just show them the list of 14 vaccinations he needs. Do you think that would work? Or is there another way of getting the prior vaccination history? BTW the clinic he went to when he was a child isn't there anymore...

I'm worried he's going to have problems getting approved cause of this...

Dont go and get all the vaccinations done again just yet!! Best thing to do would be to get a blood test done to check immunity for those things which are age appropriate for your fiance to have done.

I just had my blood checked for antibodies for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Chicken Pox (varicella), as these are the ones that are age appropriate for me to have if I don't already have immunity for them. Plus I was told I will have to have the Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) and flu shot done also (note - the flu shot is only required if it actually flu season at the time of the medical exam).

Keep in mind...I'm not 100% sure on this since I am doing the IR-1/CR-1 not K-1.... but I don't think fiances have to have the vaccinations done prior to coming to the US...I think they just have to be done before you Adjust Status.....myabe someone can correct me on this??

2 May 2011 - Called NVC and got Invoice ID number

3 May 2011 - Sent DS-3032 email

4 May 2011 - Received email reply from NVC for DS-3032; Received Medical Exam results

5 May 2011 - AOS invoiced and paid

7 May 2011 - AOS package sent; IV invoiced and paid

9 May 2011 - AOS package delivered to NVC according to tracking

20 May 2011 - RFE for missing IV package....still waiting on Police Certificate!

24 May 2011 - Received Police Certificate after 25 days (so much for 7-10!); IV package sent

27 May 2011 - IV package delivered according to tracking

8 Jun 2011 - RFE for original marriage certificate; requested supervisor review since we KNOW it was in the package!

30 Jun 2011 - SIF and CC - FINALLY!!!!

13 Jul 2011 - Interview date assigned! Scheduled for August 9th @ 10am

9 Aug 2011 - Interview - APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12 Aug 2011 - Visa in hand

24 Aug 2011 - POE @ LAX

He does have to have certain ones to enter the US but not all of them.

Have him try the schools he attended, they may have the records -

If he can't get them, he can go to the local clinic and get them in advance, just make sure he gets confirmation that he has received them - This will be way cheaper then waiting to the medical to get them - Not having had the shots won't affect his visa - they will give them at his medical if he doesn't have proof of them, it will just cost you more.

Ok, so if I just send him to get updates vaccinations for his age then that should work. Well I really hope so.

i can't find my card either and was advised by both the clinic i used to attend and the ministry of health that i will have to do them over, and they r not done at the public clinics, so they refer me to the immunizations center on eureka road. it makes no sense to go to do the medical without the card they won't do it.

Did you file yet? Worry more about putting the K1 together - you have 6 - 8 months before he needs his immunization records, plenty of time to sort it out
