I have just read on a review for London that they take your original police check certificate. Is there anyway I can keep the original as I need it for AOS? I had a very hard time obtaining one from the Middle East and I dread to think about having to get another one.

At my interview in London they took the original and a photocopy to look at. I was given back the original and they kept the photocopy. Take photocopies of all original documents.

Good luck!

Yeah that was me. I offered up the photocopy at the same time as the original, but he said that he just wanted the original. I didn't bother insisting on having the original back, as I knew I had another original back home ready to take over for AOS. It is usual that they take both an original and photocopy of both police and birth certificate at the first window and give back the originals at the second.

If you applied for your police certificate in the last three months then you could send off for another original if needed.

Take a photocopy and make a point to tell the interview person you want the original back if he doesn't give it to you.

You don't need police certificates for AOS. It's a visa thing to be cleared for admission to the US.

Thanks for all of the replies  I feel almost traumatised after getting a few of my police checks, so I do not want to part with them easily :bonk: Glad to know I won't need them again for immigration
