Would rejection of previous tourist visa effect the K-1 visa...?

My sister applied for a tourist visa 3 years ago to see our newborn baby...and the visa officer told her that just because I came here on a student visa and got married and had my green card and citizenship...now she may do the same thing and because of that they did not issue her a tourist visa and rejected...

So, now she is going to apply for K-1 visa....

Would rejection of previous tourist visa effect the K-1 visa...?

Thanks in advance guys....

No, it won't affect it, unless she lied during the application, as they will have a copy of it..

No, she didnt lie about anything...She literally told them that she was applying for a tourist visa to see her nephew at the time ...that was all and that was 3 years ago...

I applied for a B2 six-month tourist visa in December.

I was completely honest, stating that I wanted to visit my girlfriend for six-months and would be living in just one place for the duration, working online to support myself.

Naturally I was rejected, but politely, and the CO told me quite simply that I was pursuing the wrong visa. The reason your sister and I were rejected was because we failed to convince the CO that we had no intention to immigrate.

The K-1 assumes intention to immigrate, so denial for previous visas on those grounds is a non-issue.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I applied for a B2 to visit my boyfriend for 6 months, was staying with him mainly in DC and I was refused, they were worried I was going to get married and stay there plus I wasn't technically a tourist.

Now going for K1 and there is absolutely no issue - my lawyer said 'marriage cures almost all previous issues' (obviously not all but a prior visa rejection like your sisters will not be any issue whatsoever)

Good luck!

as long as there's enough evidence to support the case on the K1 interview in Turkey, she'll be fine. They can deny a K1 based on an earlier B1/B2 rejection. Also that was 3 years ago that's really good, clearly shows that she didn't apply for `that` tourist visa with the intention to immigrate to US.
